Your Role

As an Interior Designer with Gensler’s team in Charlotte, your role is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce purposeful, functional and beautiful spaces for our clients. You have exceptional interior architecture and design skills, a background in interior architecture and interior design, and a portfolio of innovative design concepts. You will be an integral part of our teams and actively foster a respectful, creative, and inspiring design environment.

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for interior design deliverables that include interpreting client’s needs, space planning, conceptual design, schematic design, design development and construction documentation 
  • Deliver design solutions requiring independent judgment and application of best practices
  • Responsible for the selection and presentation of furniture systems, fixtures and equipment (FF&E), color palettes, and lighting 
  • Generate design with 3D models, Revit, Sketchup or other software, create digital 3D view to communicate design concepts 
  • Select interior finishes and reflected ceiling plans, elevations, details, specifications, and material selections needed for construction 
  • Lead design support and documentation during completion and execution of design concepts 
  • Serve as a primary contact for external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators 
  • Guide and mentor less experienced teammates

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture, Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited program
  • 6-10 years of relevant interior design and interior architecture experience within a commercial design firm
  • Experience designing and delivering project types such as: Workplace Interiors, Commercial Office Buildings, City and County Government buildings and interiors, and Education spaces is preferred
  • Great reputation in the design community with clients, vendors and consultants

  • Strong leadership, verbal and written communication, presentation, and relationship management skills
  • Highly proficient with Revit
  • LEED accreditation or WELL AP is preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to resilience and sustainable building practices
