About This Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and high-performing Payment Services Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced environment to join the Finance Operations and Business Transformation team within Finance and Business Services (FBS). Reporting to the Senior Payment Services Officer, this role is responsible for processing accounts payable transactions accurately, efficiently and in accordance with University policies and procedures.

The Payment Services team administers and supports the University’s payment systems and processes, ensuring vendor invoices and other payments are processed on time and in compliance with governance requirements. This role combines financial processing capability with strong customer service skills to support the University community and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Process accounts payable transaction accurately and efficiently in line with University policies, procedures, and service standards
  • Ensure financial transactions comply with governance requirements, including relevant University policies and legislative obligations
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and suppliers to resolve transaction queries and ensure effective service delivery
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives relating to payment services processes and systems

This is a full time continuing position at HEW level 4.

About You 

You are a proactive and organised finance professional with strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality transactional services. You are comfortable working in a structured operational environment while collaborating with stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.

You will demonstrate:

  • A diploma qualification in accounting, business, commerce or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and training
  • Experience processing financial transactions, ideally within accounts payable, shared services or a finance operations environment
  • Knowledge of finance systems, policies and procedures and the ability to apply them to ensure accurate and compliant transaction processing
  • Experience working with enterprise systems or financial platforms to process and manage transaction data
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads and meet service delivery deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills when resolving transaction issues
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to maintain effective relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a service delivery environment

Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks, which may include verification of the right to work in Australia, qualifications, and criminal history checks. This may also include checks relating to gender-based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.
