Insurance and Patient Collections Specialist

Job Description

Responsibilities

 The Collections Specialist is responsible for administrative tasks, the collection of outstanding account receivables, all aspects of collection, analysis, and resolution of billing problems, and reducing accounts receivable delinquency.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Provide customer service regarding collection issues (patient and insurance collections).
  • Resolve insurance discrepancies and short payments.
  • Utilize knowledge of payor portals, automated clearing houses, explanation of benefits (EOB’s), and other tools to successfully complete Accounts Receivable tasks.
  • Document in detail problem/action/and follow up with insurance companies until claims are fully adjudicated.
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts.
  • Accountable for reducing delinquency for assigned accounts.
  • Initiate and resolve Appeals for many different insurance payers as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required, college degree is preferred.
  • Three (3) – five (5) years’ high volume collections experience.
  • Accounts Receivable knowledge/experience preferred.
