  • Base salary will be in the range $83,776.43 – $93,121.40 + 17 % super (HEW Level 5)

  • Based at our St Lucia location

About This Opportunity

As a Graduate Engineer – Civil, you will support the Property and Facilities Civil Engineering team in the investigation and delivery of infrastructure projects across UQ’s diverse and complex campus environment. Working within a collaborative and purposeful professional team, this role provides hands‑on exposure to real‑world engineering challenges while contributing to the safe, sustainable and effective management of UQ’s built environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with civil engineering investigations, assessments and basic engineering calculations to support infrastructure and capital works projects.

  • Supporting project delivery through drafting documentation, undertaking technical research, and auditing designs for compliance with relevant engineering standards and codes.

  • Coordinating and maintaining project records, data entry and document control using a range of desktop‑based software tools.

  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to respond to routine enquiries and provide updates on project and investigation progress.

About You

You are an inquisitive and motivated early‑career engineer who is keen to apply your technical knowledge in a practical, campus‑based environment. You enjoy working collaboratively, are detail‑focused, and are eager to learn from experienced professionals while contributing meaningfully to team outcomes.

You will demonstrate:

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with a range of stakeholders.

  • Sound problem‑solving skills and an interest in investigating and resolving engineering and infrastructure issues.

  • High‑level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Good organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • An understanding of, or interest in, engineering standards, compliance requirements and sustainable practices.

  • A Construction White Card, or the ability to obtain one prior to commencement.
