The position of the Community Development Facilitator is part of the main goal to increase resilience to Climate Change and disasters in Solomon Islands. The Project being implemented in the Solomon Islands with funding from the New Zealand Government through impacts of climate change and disasters.
The overall objective of the project is to provide alternative livelihood options for women and youth and intentionally include them in collective actions such as savings groups to improve their ability to access resources and market linkages to increase economic productivity. The project will be implemented for 4 years in 5 communities in Marau, Guadalcanal Province and is intentionally target women, youth, and people with disabilities towards improving their knowledge and skills in adopting climate-resilient livelihood practices.
The key purpose of the CDF position is to organize and mobilize the target schools and communities to ensure sustainable impact and ownership of project interventions, as well as to be the direct implementer and information gathered for project activities in the communities. The position will be based in Marau Area Program with 75% of time spent in communities. The CDF may at times perform duties outside of the tasks specified in the JD. The CDF is also expected to commit to the Biblical principle of “walking an extra mile”; sacrificing time for community work without further reward may be required at times.

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATION:
- 3-5 years' experience in community development interventions
- A relevant diploma or certificate from a recognized institution
- Computer skills
- Understanding community empowerment approaches to development
- Good communication (local Knowledge)
- English (Read and Write)
- Problem Solving skills
- Convincing and mobilizing skills
- Ability to work in a diverse culture
- Networking skills
- Data collection Methodology
- Good idea on Gender relations
- Willingness to work in target communities and stay in communities for prolonged time
