
Crossing Guard
Job Description
SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Camp St. Vincent, the Crossing Guard is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring and safety in crossing zones near the camp site. The incumbent will prepare crossing zone and assists children and pedestrians in crossing streets safely on a seasonal basis while camp is in session.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Crosses all Camp St. Vincent related Campers, Youth Works Staff and Counselors on Patterson Park Ave/Gough Street intersection.
- Timely arrival to work, and presence during work hours: 8:00am-4:00pm, M-F (Lunch: 1:00-1:30pm).
SECONDARY DUTIES
- Timely attendance to duties.
- Actively cross all CSV Campers, YW and Counselors, whether or not a CSV staff is present in the group.
- Check street and enter crosswalk before CSV members.
- Educated Campers on proper crosswalk etiquette.
- Model positive and appropriate behavior at all times.
- Attend field trips as staff attendant as needed.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Be able to communicate verbally with campers and provide instructions.
- A desire and ability to work outdoors.
- Ability to accept supervision and guidance.
- Ability to displays enthusiasm, patience and self-control.
- Minimal use of cell phone during work hours.
- Ability to commit to 8 weeks of uninterrupted work and pre and post camp planning meetings.
- Successful completion of background screening.
