The Local Route Driver is responsible for over the road transportation of goods as assigned in accordance with business needs to support Distribution Center goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
Candidates must hold a valid state-appropriate driver's license, be able to obtain their Commercial Driver's License (CDL), and be eligible to drive in accordance with DOT requirementsPerforms various functions within the yard, supports site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers as needed, to ensure all trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects and to maintain a fluid trailer poolOperate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) over the road as required while staying on predetermined routes and using approved equipmentOperates CMVs on non-public roads or in yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locationsComplies with company policies, procedures, and DOT regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting requirements, break periods, etc.)Completes driver vehicle inspection reports on equipment and notify managers of any maintenance or delivery issues encounteredFollows hostler and delivery schedules, tracks and reports working hours and breaks at appropriate times, adheres to yard safety policies, obeys all applicable traffic laws, and drives in accordance with weather/road conditions Moves pallets, wraps skids and unloads and loads trailers as neededDrives, maneuvers, and loads/unloads a truck using approved equipmentCleans up and disposes boxes, packing material, and pallets, as well as general housekeeping of facility and specific product line areasRotates through different departments, as necessary, to meet the demands of the businessParticipates in ongoing training regarding technology upgrades and new systems applicable to the positionPerforms all job tasks assigned by the leadership staff to achieve and maintain daily productivity and quality goalsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

On a daily basis, must be able to constantly have visual acuity near and far, stand, operate computers/POS/office equipment, move around the facility and communicate. Ability to frequently handle paperwork and/or remain stationary. May occasionally lift, carry, reach, kneel, crawl, push/pull, climb, balance, bend, crouch, twist or have foot controls for operating equipment.Physical Demands**
Movement of product, supplies and/or boxes to and from all levels of the store and stockroom. Ability to move and/or lift up to 65 lbs to a height of 3-4 feet; heavier product with team assist. Furniture: Ability to move up to 300 lbs with appropriate equipment.Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions**
