The Material Planner III is responsible for end-to-end demand and supply planning for Spacelabs Supplies & Accessories, ensuring continuity of supply, optimal inventory investment, and strong customer service performance in a highly regulated medical device environment. This role owns the statistical baseline forecast and cross-functional consensus demand plan, translates demand into replenishment signals (MRP/DRP), and partners with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Quality/Regulatory, Operations, suppliers, and third-party distribution partners to manage constraints, mitigate risk, and drive forecast accuracy and inventory turns. The Sr Planner establishes and maintains planning parameters (safety stock, reorder points, lead times), monitors KPIs (service level/OTIF, forecast accuracy/MAPE, past due/backorders, excess & obsolete), and leads continuous improvement of planning processes, data quality, and reporting.
***This is a hybrid position based in Snoqualmie, Washington, with the expectation of onsite collaboration 3 or more days per week, depending on business needs.***
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end demand plan for Supplies & Accessories, integrating statistical forecasting with market intelligence (historical demand, seasonality, installed base usage, promotions, NPI/EOL, distributor/channel signals, and customer/backorder trends).
- Lead the monthly demand review and cross-functional consensus process; document assumptions, align on upside/downside scenarios, and communicate key drivers, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders.
- Translate the approved demand plan into supply and replenishment requirements (MRP/DRP), maintaining planning parameters including lead times, MOQ/pack sizes, lot sizing, safety stock/reorder points, and service-level targets.
- Monitor supply constraints, inventory positions, and supplier performance; proactively identify shortages, long-lead risks, and allocation needs; coordinate mitigation actions with Buyers, Operations, and suppliers.
- Partner with the third-party distribution partner to reconcile demand signals, inventory on hand/in transit, and replenishment needs; ensure clear communication of available-to-promise, substitutions, and lead-time changes.
- Own planning performance metrics and cadence reporting (Forecast Accuracy/MAPE & Bias, OTIF/Service Level, backorders/past due, inventory turns, and Excess & Obsolete); drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Optimize inventory investment while protecting customer service, including segmentation (ABC/XYZ), safety stock strategy, and obsolescence planning for regulated/controlled items and shelf-life/expiry constraints (as applicable).
- Serve as a key stakeholder in product lifecycle governance (ECO/PCN, substitutions, part number changes, NPI/EOL transitions) to ensure uninterrupted supply and accurate system master data.
- Ensure planning data integrity in ERP/planning systems (items, BOMs where applicable, planning attributes, sourcing, inventory locations, country/regulatory constraints) and partner with Master Data owners to correct issues.
- Collaborate with Finance on inventory reserves, adjustments, scrap, and reconciliation; provide forecast and inventory insights to support budgeting and operating reviews.
- Develop and maintain standard work (SOPs/work instructions) for planning processes, including demand planning, replenishment execution, exception management, and KPI reporting.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across planning processes, tools (Power BI/Excel), and stakeholder operating rhythm to improve forecast accuracy, reduce backorders, and reduce excess & obsolete inventory.
- Maintain a weekly exception list of parts with material availability issues; communicate status and recovery plans and escalate constraints and financial implications to leadership as needed.
- Uphold the Company’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork.
- Demonstrate behavior consistent with the Company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
- It is the responsibility of every Spacelabs Healthcare employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
- Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in demand planning, material planning, supply planning, or inventory planning; or a Master’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience; or a PhD with related experience; or a minimum of 11+ years of equivalent, progressive experience in lieu of a degree.
- Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics) and planning concepts (MRP/DRP, safety stock, reorder points, lead times, MOQ/pack sizes, lot sizing, and exception management).
- Advanced analytical and reporting capability: Excel (pivots, Power Query, complex formulas), and Power BI or equivalent BI tools; able to create actionable dashboards and executive-ready narratives.
- Experience leading cross-functional planning cadences (monthly demand review/S&OP/IBP inputs), aligning stakeholders, and documenting assumptions and decisions.
- Strong communication and influence skills across Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Sourcing. Comfortable escalating risk and driving closure on action plans.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail, ownership, and follow-through.
- Working knowledge of regulated manufacturing environments (medical device preferred), including disciplined change control (ECO/PCN), traceability, and data integrity expectations.
- APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) preferred.
- Experience supporting high-mix SKUs is required; experience with accessories and consumables is strongly preferred.
