NewtekOne is looking to add an Accounting & Reporting Manager to the team!
The Accounting & Reporting Manager is responsible for overseeing key accounting functions, financial reporting, internal controls, regulatory reporting support, and audit coordination activities. This role partners closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the effectiveness of internal controls. The Accounting and Reporting Manager will drive process improvements, support strategic initiatives, and provide meaningful financial analysis to support organizational objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned as needed):
Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, purchase accounting, CECL, valuations, and other accounting functions.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial reports and management reporting packages.
- Analyze financial and operating results to evaluate performance, identify trends, and support decision-making.
- Assist with the preparation and review of SEC filings, Federal Reserve reports, FFIEC filings, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Compare actual financial results to budgets and forecasts, performing variance analysis and communicating key findings to management.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), key risk indicators (KRIs), profitability metrics, and risk measures to proactively identify performance concerns and emerging risks.
Internal Controls and Compliance
- Document, maintain, and update accounting and business process documentation to ensure procedures accurately reflect current operations.
- Collaborate with process owners to maintain current and accurate SOX documentation, supporting testing and remediation activities.
- Assist process owners in developing and implementing corrective action plans for identified control deficiencies.
- Track remediation activities, monitor progress against established timelines, and coordinate timely validation and testing of corrective actions.
Audit and Regulatory Support
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate efficient execution of audit and testing activities.
- Ensure audit documentation requests are completed accurately and submitted on a timely basis.
- Monitor audit and testing timelines and proactively escalate potential issues or delays to minimize disruptions and ensure timely completion.
- Support regulatory examinations and requests by providing documentation, analysis, and responses as needed.
Business Partnership and Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to facilitate effective communication and accountability.
- Partner with senior leaders to support achievement of business objectives, financial targets, and strategic initiatives.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, strengthen controls, and reduce cycle times within financial close and reporting processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special projects, system implementations, process enhancements, and strategic initiatives.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting, financial reporting, audit, or regulatory reporting experience.
- Experience within the banking, financial services, or publicly traded company environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, SOX compliance, and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience supporting regulatory reporting and external audits preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Proficiency with financial systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and enhance operational efficiency.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA designation preferred.
Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 per year
