Job Description
We are seeking a Logistics Team Leader to join our Saint John operations. This role is ideal for a motivated and hands-on leader who is passionate about logistics excellence, customer service, and developing high-performing teams. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day Third-Party Logistics operations, execute resource plans, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to support the growth and effectiveness of the 3PL Department.
Operational Leadership
- Oversee and execute daily logistics operations to ensure service commitments, customer deadlines, and delivery requirements are consistently met
- Ensure booking processes are followed, including carrier sourcing, rate negotiation, customer quoting, shipment tracking and tracing, and client updates
- Provide daily planning and workload prioritization for the logistics team
- Monitor workflow and address operational issues proactively in a data driven environment using transportation/logistics systems, reports, and basic data analysis (e.g., trends, volumes, service performance)
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key point of contact for customers, providing timely and professional responses to inquiries
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, customs brokers, and internal stakeholders
- Support complex shipments, including tariff classifications and reshipments, as required
- Communicate effectively with senior management and cross-functional departments
People Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and support team members to drive engagement, accountability, and performance
- Onboard new clients and new team members
Business Growth & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to the growth of the brokerage department’s customer base, revenue, and profitability
- Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction
- Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, dispatch, and/or people leadership
- Completion of an Undergraduate degree in business administration or a related field
- Logistics or Transportation certification (e.g., CITT, CIFFA) preferred
- Strong data literacy and systems aptitude, with the ability to interpret operational reports, KPIs, and dashboards to support day to day decision making and performance management
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent follow-up skills
- Proven problem-solving ability and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead through change
