As a Senior Associate, Modeling & Simulation Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the design, development, and delivery of innovative medical devices through advanced finite element analysis (FEA) and simulation-driven engineering in a regulated environment. In this role, you will help accelerate product development, improve design quality, and deliver safe, effective solutions that enhance patient outcomes. This position is onsite in Fort Worth, Texas.
In this role, a typical day will include:
Lead FEA (Finite Element Analysis) efforts supporting Surgical R&D medical device development, driving faster, cost-effective innovation
Perform advanced structural and dynamic simulations (linear/nonlinear, implicit/explicit, impact, transient, frequency) on complex, multi-material systems
Develop multi-physics, large-scale models to enable virtual prototyping across the product lifecycle
Leverage tools such as Ansys Mechanical, LS-DYNA, and OptiStruct for modeling, simulation, and convergence analysis
Validate simulation results through correlation with experimental data
Define project scope, requirements, and timelines, managing multiple simulations to meet delivery goals
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to identify and resolve design issues early
Support regulatory submissions, post-market analysis, and Global Medical Affairs through simulation insights
Drive innovation by advancing simulation methods, tools, and best practices
Solve complex, multi-disciplinary engineering challenges using strong analytical skills
Mentor team members and deliver clear, professional technical reports
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs.; Assoc.+6 yrs.; M.S.+0 yrs.)
The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English

Strong foundation in structural mechanics, dynamics, and material modeling
