
Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician
Job Description
- Provide compassionate care and monitoring for animals admitted to the internal medicine department.
- Assist with a variety of diagnostic procedures including blood work, imaging, and endoscopy.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and wound care treatments under veterinarian supervision.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners, offering guidance on their pet’s condition and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure equipment is properly maintained and sterilized.
- Assist veterinarians during procedures such as biopsies and aspiration cytology.
- Stay updated on advancements in internal medicine through continuing education.
- Collaborate closely with other veterinary professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Advocate for the well-being of patients, ensuring they receive appropriate care and treatment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Compensation Range:
- $30.00 - $45.00/hour
- $9,000 Hiring Bonus for Registered Veterinary Technicians
- $7,000 Hiring Bonus for experienced non-credentialed Veterinary Technicians
- High school diploma
- Valid and current Registered Veterinary Technician license in the state of California is highly preferred
- Calm, professional demeanor.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable time management and problem-solving skills; working efficiently and effectively throughout the hospital.
- Multi-task various duties and responsibilities in a timely and reliable manner, with appropriate follow-through and accuracy.
- Ability to work well independently as well as with a team.
- Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations
- High level of venipuncture skills, math calculations, and patient handling
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in Specialty Veterinary Medicine, with a focus on internal medicine.
