Job Summary: The Clinical Float supports healthcare providers by assisting with various clinical and administrative tasks as needed. This dual role requires flexibility to float between clinical & front office departments, locations or providers, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
Float Responsibilities
- Rotate between different clinic locations as needed to provide both clinical assistance to medical providers and administrative support, ensuring continuity of care and efficient operations at each site.
- Adapt to different workflows, team dynamics, and patient needs at each location, maintaining a high standard of care and customer service.
Clinical Support
- Support orthopedic providers during patient exams by assisting with injection procedure, taking vital signs, preparing patients for treatment, and ensuring equipment is sanitized and ready for use.
- Assist patients with mobility, help with the application of orthopedic devices (walking boots, wrist braces etc.), and provide patient education on treatment plans and aftercare.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, ensuring all supplies are stocked and ready for use.
- Provide support for administrative tasks when needed, including patient check-in, scheduling, and coordinating patient flow within the clinic.
Front Desk Support:
- Assist with patient intake, check-in/check-out procedures, and patient communications, ensuring a smooth and efficient flow of patients through the clinic.
- Handle phone calls, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and general office tasks.
- Ensure that patient records are accurately updated and managed across both clinical and administrative systems.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong typing and documentation skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, providers, and staff.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple responsibilities at once.
- Must be able to float between multiple clinic locations and adapt to varying workflows.
Preferred:
- Previous experience as a medical scribe or in a clinical support role (ideally in orthopedics or musculoskeletal care) is highly desirable.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems (e.g., ECW, Phreesia, etc.).
- Experience with front desk operations and patient scheduling is a plus.
