Position Summary

The Physical Security Solutions Architect is a critical hands-on technical leadership role responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's comprehensive physical security technology infrastructure. This position serves as the primary technical authority for all physical security systems, including video surveillance, access control, badging, critical communications, and visitor management platforms. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise in security systems architecture with strong collaboration skills to work effectively across IT functions and business stakeholders.

This role requires a unique blend of systems architecture, hands-on technical skills, and the ability to serve as the authoritative knowledge source for physical security systems. The architect will be responsible for documenting existing systems, identifying improvements, and implementing standardized, scalable solutions that align with enterprise IT standards while meeting the specific security needs of a manufacturing environment with multiple locations.  This role reports to the Director, IT Project Management Office (PMO) and Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC).  This position is based in the Company’s Corporate Headquarters located in Sandy Springs, Georgia and will have a combination of on-site work, remote work, and travel to Company locations.    

Systems Architecture & Platform Management

  • Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive architecture for all physical security platforms such as Genetec, InformaCast, SailPoint identity management integration, Workday HRIS integration, Envoy visitor management, and consolidating multiple badging systems
  • Develop and maintain detailed system architecture documentation, including network diagrams, integration flows, data models, and standard operating procedures
  • Conduct comprehensive assessment of current state architecture identifying strengths, vulnerabilities, risks, standardization opportunities, and modernization requirements
  • Design future-state architecture with emphasis on standardization, scalability, cloud-first approaches, and alignment with enterprise IT standards
  • Perform hands-on administration of physical security platforms including configuration, updates, patches, and performance optimization. Determine future system administration for daily ownership and operation, between IT services, security, HR and other business functions

Integration Design & Implementation

  • Design and implement integrations between physical security systems and enterprise applications including Workday HRIS, SailPoint identity governance, and other business systems
  • Design seamless data flow for employee onboarding/offboarding, access provisioning, and identity lifecycle management
  • Develop and maintain integration documentation including data mappings, API specifications, and troubleshooting guides
  • Collaborate with Network Infrastructure and Cybersecurity teams to ensure a secure, high availability network architecture for physical security systems

Access Control & Badging Systems

  • Support system implementation for access control policies, badge workflows, and visitor management procedures aligned with security requirements and business needs
  • Design systems that support user access privileges across all systems, and conduct regular audits and access reviews with IT GRC
  • Troubleshoot issues related to badge card management, printing workflows, and credential administration
  • Design and support maintenance of standardized access control hardware configurations for readers, locks, and control panels

Video Surveillance Systems

  • Design and manage enterprise video surveillance architecture in compliance with recording strategies and retention policies
  • Specify camera types, encoders, and storage solutions based on security requirements and environmental conditions
  • Configure and optimize video management system including federation, archiving, and analytics features
  • Support incident investigations by providing video evidence and system expertise

Critical Communications & Emergency Management

  • Provide technical configuration and support of critical communications platform for emergency notifications, mass alerts, and facility-wide announcements, in compliance with notification workflows, distribution groups, and escalation procedures
  • Integrate critical communications with other security systems for automated responses to security events

Vendor & Partner Management

  • Manage relationships with security technology vendors, system integrators, and service providers
  • Evaluate vendor roadmaps and emerging technologies to inform strategic planning
  • Coordinate with vendors for support escalations, product enhancements, and system upgrades
  • Establish and maintain service level agreements with technology partners

Operations & Support

  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation as escalation point for physical security systems incidents
  • Lead incident response for physical security system failures, working with IT Services and Network teams for resolution
  • Provide technical guidance to IT Services team members who handle hardware troubleshooting (readers, cameras, access control points) and Level 1/2 support
  • Determine appropriate ownership and administration models for physical security applications across IT and business functions
  • Monitor system health, performance metrics, and capacity planning for all physical security platforms

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work alongside physical security leaders and program managers to meet their requirements and timelines
  • Partner with Network Infrastructure team on VLAN management, network segmentation, switch configurations, and firewall rules for physical security systems
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity team to ensure security controls, vulnerability management, and threat monitoring for physical security platforms
  • Work with IT PMO for project planning, resource coordination, and implementation of physical security initiatives
  • Coordinate with HRIS and Integrations teams for identity and access management workflows
  • Engage with non-IT stakeholders including HR, Legal, Corporate Communications, Operations, Facilities Management, security contractors, and law enforcement as needed

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Security Management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience

  • Minimum 8+ years of progressive experience in physical security systems architecture, design, and implementation and 5+ years of hands-on experience with security center platforms such as Genetec and InformaCast

Professional Skills

  • Exceptional documentation skills with ability to create comprehensive technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and standard operating procedures
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders

Working Conditions

  • Primarily remote work with regular on-site presence required at corporate headquarters and manufacturing facilities
  • Travel required (estimated 20-30%) for site visits, system implementations, and vendor meetings
  • Participation in 24/7 on-call rotation for escalated physical security systems incidents
  • Occasional after-hours or weekend work for system maintenance, upgrades, or emergency response
  • Physical requirements include ability to access equipment rooms, data centers, and perform site surveys in manufacturing environments
