The Opportunity We’re looking for Geomatics Engineering graduates who want to be outdoors, on active project sites, and learning by doing. As a Geomatics Graduate at McElhanney, you’ll gain hands‑on experience across field and office environments, working on real projects alongside experienced professionals in Northern BC. You’ll be exposed to a wide range of surveying and geomatics work, using industry‑leading technology while building practical skills quickly. You hold a valid Class 5 driver’s License You enjoy and are comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions You can travel and work away from home for extended periods (up to 3 weeks) In your application, please mention the office location you are applying to. What You’ll Do As part of our Geomatics team, you’ll: Support field crews using GNSS receivers for RTK, RTN, static measurements, and total stations Work closely with Project Managers to prepare survey files, maps, and data for project delivery Research plans, titles, records, and other geospatial information Maintain, monitor, and report on the condition of survey equipment and vehicles Work across both field and office environments, including urban sites, remote locations, and wilderness settings Learn and operate emerging technologies such as drones, 3D laser scanning, and unmanned survey equipment Participate in McElhanney’s industry‑leading safety practices,  ensuring teams Think Safe, Work Safe, and Get Home Safe Expect early starts, active days, and plenty of time outdoors.Practice Areas You’ll Focus OnDuring your graduate experience, you’ll develop deeper skills, while gaining exposure to real‑world projects supported by a multidisciplinary team: Geomatics & Geospatial: Involve yourself in Oil & Gas Surveys, Pipeline Surveys, Municipal & Land Development, and Transportation Surveys, providing critical surveying support for infrastructure projects. Geomatics Technology & Remote Sensing: Gain hands-on experience in various surveys while utilizing advanced technologies like drones, 3D laser scanning, and various other tools. Ground Disturbance & One Call: Engage in Line Locating and ground disturbance management, ensuring safe excavation practices through One Call documentation. What You’ll Bring A Diploma or Degree in Geomatics, or related field (completed or near completion) A genuine interest in field‑based, hands‑on work Physical ability to work on active sites, varied terrain, and lift equipment Willingness to work outdoors for extended periods in sometimes remote environments Strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and clear communication skills Previous outdoor, field, construction, or labour experience is an asset Why is this role worth it? McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications.
