Scoring Assistant

Paragon by Prometric operates in the highly competitive and rapidly growing industry for English proficiency tests and their instructional products and services. As the Canadian subsidiary of Prometric, Paragon aspires for its tests to become the tests of choice for both immigration and admission to universities and colleges.
Position SummaryThe Scoring Assistant will join the Assessment Services Operations division and participate in the activities of the Scoring team that is responsible for monitoring and timely release of final test results on Paragon testing products. The Scoring Assistant will assist the team responsible for score quality assurance and rater training. The Scoring team ensures rater performance and scoring operations meet or exceed industry standards.
This position reports to the Scoring Lead.
Responsibilities
The Scoring Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:
Managing rater workloads using Paragon’s online rating systems.
Monitoring and ensuring timely completion of all rating work.
Completing quality assurance steps of the ratings and test scores.
Verifying and releasing test scores.
Communicating with raters.
Supporting training and certification of raters.
Maintaining guides and documentation on all procedures.
Suggesting improvements to operational systems and procedures.
The Scoring Assistant will also work collaboratively to:
Prepare and interpret data pertaining to rater performance and scoring operations.
Provide feedback for raters.
Participate in research projects related to new product development and the validation and improvement of Paragon’s tests.
Qualifications
AcademicQualified candidates will have a B.A. in English, Education, Linguistics, or closely related field. Courses in Testing, Statistics, and Curriculum Design are desirable. A combination of education and relevant experience in Test Design or Administration will be considered.
Experience and Abilities
Qualified candidates will have:
Knowledge of immigrant and international student issues.
Familiarity with ESL, EFL, and/or EAP populations.
Excellent clerical and organizational skills with careful attention to detail.
Ability to certify as a CELPIP Speaking and Writing Rater.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with careful attention to detail.
Good communication skills, both written and oral.
Experience working in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Technical
Qualified candidates will have:
Computer skills (including Excel).
Ability to quickly learn new software applications.
Familiarity with virtual learning environments such as Moodle.
Familiarity with SQL databases is an asset.
Requirements

Salary: $48,000 CAD
