Job Description

  • Full time, fixed term role until June 2027
  • Utilise your experience in applying a learner-centred approach to the design of information and digital literacy skills development programs
  • Base Salary $103,185 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Learning Designer collaborates closely with the Education Services Librarians, Academic Engagement Librarians and other Learning Designers to apply a learner-centred approach to the design of information and digital literacy skills development programs. The jobholder employs strong analytical skills to assess diverse learning needs, identify skills gaps, and develop tailored learning experiences. Leveraging advanced pedagogical and technical expertise, this role contributes to developing practical solutions, tools, and resources that enhance the programmatic delivery of learning experiences support. The jobholder will anticipate and adapt to emerging trends and technologies in the Library and University environments. The Learning Designer will actively share specialist knowledge and best practices in educational technology with others and sponsor the development of new and innovative technology related ideas and/or procedures to meet current learning, teaching and research needs and improve the learner experience.  

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide specialist pedagogical knowledge to support the design and development of student-focused learning experiences
  • coordinate the programmatic design and delivery of faculty-level and University-wide learning experiences
  • provide advice to Library staff and effectively implement educational technologies
  • identify, understand and address the current and future needs of internal and external clients.

About you

  • qualifications in education, information technology, user experience design, information and knowledge management or similar with relevant technical knowledge acquired through work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and training
  • holds or willing to obtain, a Working with Children Check
  • experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g. Canvas), with coding knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript preferred.
  • demonstrated ability to leverage educational technology and tools to design learning experiences that promote active learning and critical thinking
  • experience working as part of a multi-professional team to deliver a complex initiative supporting the organisation’s strategic goals and building relationships with stakeholders to achieve outcomes
  • demonstrated understanding of pedagogical principles, instructional design and educational technology to create engaging and effective learning experiences
  • demonstrated knowledge of Universal Design for Learning, applying cultural competence to design equitable learning experiences for diverse learner populations.

You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to be eligible to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.
