The Opportunity

This position works out of our Pinheiros office in São Paulo, Brazil in the Rapid Diagnostics organization leading the Infections Diseases' business (ID). Our rapid diagnostics solutions are helping address some of the world’s greatest healthcare challenges.

As the Country Manager ID Brazil you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the implementation a new commercial business model in Brazil, will operate in a very entrepreneurial setting, with relevant autonomy and the responsibility to grow this business, while working more effectively with the distributors across the Cluster.

In this role, the incumbent will lead to establish operations for Infectious Disease Marketing POC business in this new market, by laying the foundation of a $20MM operation and leverage market potential. Initial focus of the role will be to generate sales with existing and new distribution partners, build out the ID LAC strategic plan for expanding creating new business models in Brazil.

What You’ll Do

  • Leading the cluster to meet or exceed all performance objectives, effectively managing the distribution network in the different markets in the region.

  • Influence and make a step change in the relationship with distributors and monitor their execution, implementing a global model to build the business jointly.

  • Ensure increased penetration at end user level, introduction of new products and development of new channels such as physicians, pharmacy chains and corporations.

  • Consolidate, motivate and lead the team to assure successful results and a high-performance culture.

  • Lead day to day actives as well as set long term opportunities to reshape diagnostics within Brazil

  • Coordination and improvement of the management of current distributors

  • Development of new business opportunities (private sector and new channels)

  • Develop a strategic plan to develop ID footprint in Brazil

  • Develop a network with key stakeholders: KOL mapping and development

  • Responsibility for maximizing business across your territory, across our full portfolio of products and services, spotting and acting upon opportunities that lead to success.

  • Collaborative approach by partnering with colleagues across functions and business areas to fully understand the product portfolio and implement the strategies for new and existing products.

  • Market Expert- you’ll know the territory inside out and know how business is done a large, complex multi-site organization.

  • A sound knowledge of how business is done across the Healthcare system would be ideal – although other areas that have included a highly complex, multi-site environment will be considered

  • Manage and coordinate all marketing, advertising and promotional staff and activities

  • Conduct market research to determine market requirements for existing and future products

  • Overall responsibility for brand management and corporate identity

  • Improve Key customer engagement, new opportunity identification, business case development, detailed financial analytics, and alignment to Global Hepatitis portfolio strategy and team leadership.

  • Identify new product opportunities, create business plans, prioritize verses other opportunities, and drive alignment across the organization.

  • Understands customer health goals and maintains/disseminates perspective on how our products help customers align to those goals

  • Support country-level pricing based on quantitative and qualitative analysis

  • Represents Rapid Diagnostics entity / Business in local Business Advisory Council (One Abbott)

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree in business or possess equivalent experience.  Advanced degrees, training and second line managerial experience are preferred.  

  • A minimum of eight to ten years of successful work experience in the medical device or related field is necessary with specific experience related to having managed a staff of direct reports with sales responsibility and accountability.  

  • Must have a successful work history with focus on negotiation skills, ASP management, and revenue and market share enhancement.  

  • The Country Manager ID Brazil must have the ability to work with, and direct others, as well as be able to prepare and present effective oral and written communications, both internally and externally.  

  • Proven examples of participation of elaborate plans to start an operation up, create new business models and turn-arounds.

  • The incumbent must have a documented record of achievement while also demonstrating the ability to prioritize tasks, analyze problems, develop solution alternatives, and implement tactics needed to secure positive outcomes for ID.

  • Should have a history of seeking and undertaking self-development and self-improvement projects and opportunities.  

  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred.

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.  

  • Evidence of making things happen, driving change and a passion for selling innovative ideas and concepts

  • Able to effectively shift between high level strategic planning and tactical implementation.

  • Strong analytical skills, including a proven ability to synthesize and utilize market data and customer insights to develop effective marketing strategies, collateral, and communications.

  • Willingness to “roll up sleeves” to perform at all levels and assist in areas outside of core responsibilities

  • Strong intellectual curiosityable to evidence great listening and problem-solving capabilities

  • Sales expertiseevidence of meeting and exceeding targets across a complex landscape within healthcare market for Brazil

  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.

  • Ability to travel approximately 15%, including internationally.
