About This Role
Lycoming Engines seeks a Supervisor to lead a dynamic team of production associates, including mechanics, technicians and skilled trades to support production, development, assembly and testing of engine products and systems. This person will be a charismatic leader and change agent capable of driving relentless improvement, motivating team members and leading them to achieve safety, quality, delivery and cost goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, developing, directing, counseling and disciplining employees in a fair and consistent manner
· Lead and direct employees in various size operations departments
· Develop and improve operations towards best in class standards including but not limited to talent, processes and facilities
· Assists in developing plant Lean competencies including Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Visual Controls, Materials / Tools at Point-of-Use, SMED (setup reduction), Flow, Kanban, Cell Layout, Waste Reduction, supplier interface and development.
· Supervise bargained personnel to insure efficient manpower utilization and assist with planning
· Proactively participate in cross-functional efforts and teams to support Lycoming Premier initiatives
· Responsible for the training and development of all bargaining unit personnel
· Administer the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and collaborate with union leaders in the resolution of shop issues
· Assist with selection, installation, operation and on-going maintenance of equipment and systems
· Ensure compliance with company procedures and policies
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Leadership experience
· Engine assembly, engine test, dynamometer operations and machining – both CNC and conventional is a plus
· Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills
· Demonstrate ability to influence work culture and drive change in organizations
· Demonstrate strong problem solving, team building, and conflict resolution skills
· Possess strong work ethic
· MS Office skills
· Knowledge of general aviation engine and airframe applications is preferred
· Knowledge of advanced engine control systems and troubleshooting is preferred
· Machine shop experience utilizing statistical process control is preferred
· Lean manufacturing experience is a plus
· Six Sigma training and experience is preferred
Specialized Requirements:
· Knowledge of data acquisition, electronic and test control systems is preferred
· Possess the ability to develop, implement, and maintain facility infrastructure
· Coordinate and prioritize work to meet customer requirements for both production and development demands
· Work with and support the FAA to ensure that investigations are conducted accurately and on schedule
