Title: Specialist II (Title IV), Attendance
Monitors school attendance and works with school administrators, students, parents, and the school support team with a focus on keeping students in school, improving student and school attendance rates and educating staff and families.
Essential Job Duties
• Leads district wide attendance efforts.
• Monitors and implements strategies along with school-based staff to improve daily student attendance.
• Responsible for tracking and analyzing data monthly to identify student absentee patterns.
• Trains, assists, and supports school Attendance Protocol Managers.
• Serves as an accountability manager to help and improve school attendance.
• Identifies partnerships with external stakeholders to assist with decreasing student absenteeism in the district.
• Works with Lead Social Worker and assist in serving as a school representative on court cases, attendance protocol committees, and other duties that support local and state attendance policies, including Georgia Compulsory Attendance Policy.
• Serves as a liaison between the school and the community to increase student attendance rates.
• Works with staff to assist students in situations where referrals to service agencies are necessary.
• Works with families and community support staff to prevent/deter Juvenile Court and Solicitor General referrals.
• Supports the school in developing a plan to provide targeted follow-up with parents/guardians to mitigate issues impacting attendance.
• Ensures and directs school personnel according to DCSD Attendance Policy and Student Code of Conduct as it relates to student attendance and progress.
• Administers and supports the local and state attendance policies, including the Georgia Compulsory Attendance Policy.
• Produces individual student attendance reports for school, county, and state.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• An Associate's degree or equivalent completed college coursework from a Professional Standards Commission-approved accredited college or university is preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years of related industry experience is required.
