Job Description

Job Duties

Research (90%)

  • Collaborate with Dr. Seema Lalani on the department's genomic medicine research portfolio.
  • Contribute to Project GIVE, including conducting clinical assessments, compiling and managing study data, and preparing manuscripts for publication.
  • Support the MAGNET (Making Genomics Accessible to Newborns in Texas) program, which uses low-cost whole genome and RNA sequencing to improve genetic diagnosis of critically ill newborns in neonatal intensive care units across under-resourced regions of Texas, including work with clinical partner sites and the Consultagene platform.
  • Contribute to the GECKO research program.
  • Develop and pursue independent and collaborative research, in collaboration with Dr. Fernando Scaglia, investigating inflammation as it relates to mitochondrial disease.
  • Disseminate findings through peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations.

 

Clinical (10%)

  • Provide patient care as an attending physician in the pediatric genetics clinic, approximately one half-day per week.
