JOB SUMMARY
The SPDG MTSS Specialist is essential in providing exceptional professional development and technical assistance to schools across the state. The primary goal of this role is to support schools in implementing and enhancing the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), academic and behavioral interventions, and evidence-based instructional practices. With a particular emphasis on addressing the needs of struggling learners and students with disabilities, we strive to empower educators to create effective learning environments for all students. By collaborating closely with schools, this position aims to foster a culture of continuous improvement and provide the necessary tools and knowledge to optimize student success.
Funding Source: This position is funded by a federal grant scheduled to end on September 30, 2027.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, school psychology, public health, or a closely related field [official transcripts required upon hire];
At least five (5) years of experience working in education, with experience coaching or mentoring adults;
Possession of a valid Oklahoma teaching certification in any area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in education, special education, psychology, or a closely related field [official transcripts required upon hire].
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Successful completion of a pre-employment background check;
Must possess a valid driver’s license from a U.S. state or territory to perform necessary job-related travel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Knowledge & Expertise: Knowledge of current research, best practices, and trends in Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), screening and progress monitoring assessments, instructional interventions, the cultivation of interpersonal and intrapersonal skills, and practices that take into account the impact of trauma on students and promote family engagement; additionally, the candidate should possess knowledge and skill in adult learning theory and delivering professional development, as well as expertise in instructional coaching principles and practices.
Collaboration: Collaborate with the SPDG, Special Education Services, and other agency divisions to develop and align professional development initiatives and support systems for schools, specifically targeting the implementation of behavioral and academic instruction and interventions.
Training & Educating: Create comprehensive and engaging content on Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), instructional programming, and systems change for asynchronous modules and technical assistance documents.
Program Development & Implementation: Facilitate the development, implementation, review, and evaluation of coordinated activities to improve academic and behavioral outcomes for all students, including those with disabilities; facilitate the development, implementation, review, and evaluation of coordinated activities to improve academic and behavioral outcomes for all students, including those with disabilities; facilitate school team meetings and coach internal personnel and teams to implement systems change.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Location: Eastern Oklahoma
Work Environment includes:
Field Work: Frequent travel to various locations around eastern Oklahoma, involving outdoor exposure to varied weather conditions, rough or uneven terrain, and potential interaction with diverse environments, facilities, and community sites.
Physical Demands include:
Ability to stand, reach, and bend 50% of the time;
Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine/printer, and office telephone 75% of the time;
Ascends/descends stairs 25% of the time;
Ability to lift to 25 lbs.
Cognitive Requirements:
This role requires clear and accurate communication, strong analytical skills, and the ability to evaluate information and make timely decisions.
Sustained focus and attention to detail are essential, along with memory retention of policies, procedures, and facts over various time frames.
Adaptability and mental flexibility are also necessary to handle changing information, work conditions, and unexpected challenges.
TRAVEL
80% in-state/out-of-state travel may be required.
