Job Summary
The Granite Connection High School Credit Recovery Learning Lab is open to any student in Granite School District and provides credit assistance.  Tutors also assist adult students to prepare to complete diploma or GED requirements.  Tutors in the Credit Recovery Learning Lab follow guidelines of the Credit Recovery Project in administering assessments and evaluating work. This position assists with clerk work, tutors, motivates and assisting in solving complex problems.  Tutors needs to be able to work without direct supervision.  Attendance, physical presence, and timeliness are required and are essential functions of this position.
 
Essential Functions

  • Advise high school and adult students as they work towards earning a high school diploma
  • Assist students with assignments
  • Evaluates, corrects, and grades student work
  • Must be able to keep accurate records of student progress for up to 48 students at one time
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues in the classroom
  • Communicates with students, parents, and program supervisors in the high school and adult programs
  • Fields phone calls from school officials, parents, students, case workers, and others.
  • Answers questions regarding student progress, Learning Lab services and directs callers to appropriate education professional for program referral

  • Must have a good working knowledge of required high school curriculum, especially math, science, and language arts

Required Education and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Some college experience is preferred
Bilingual skills preferred

Working Environment
Work setting is mainly in the classroom.  May be asked to work inside and outside the building to accomplish assigned tasks. Working conditions can be in hot and cold weather. May experience stress from disruptive students and/or groups of students.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak and/or hear.  Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, and crouch.  Occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel and must occasionally climb or balance.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 15 lbs.
