Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join the team on our Same Day Surgery floor!Schedule: par-time Day Shift (Monday - Friday) 8 hour shifts / No weekends!
The staff RN is a registered professional nurse who assumes responsibility for patient care during the pre and postoperative period. He or she provides direct care involving knowledge of and ability to use the nursing process in assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening and evaluating patient needs and to ensure positive patient outcomes.
Responsibilities include:
Adheres to hospital nursing practice standards, demonstrates appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
Completes a Nursing Assessment form on each patient using appropriate tool.
Identifies patient needs based on objective data and follows through with appropriate documentation.
Implements appropriate Nursing actions to each patient that needs to be identified.
Makes decisions that reflect both knowledge of facts and sound judgment.
Discusses with and includes patient, family, and/or significant other about planned patient care and expected outcomes and documents same.
Identifies and appropriately utilizes multidisciplinary approach to facilitate delivery of patient care.
Instructs and documents patient in follow-up care/activities in preparation for transfer/discharge.
Evaluates the patient’s/significant other’s understanding of instructions.
Gives written instructions and materials to patients and families.
Reviews preventative health measures to patient and family. Documents understanding of instructions.
Evaluates the effectiveness of the Nursing care.
Documents patient teaching legibly.
Charts precise and specific observations.
Completes all charts/forms accurately and timely.
Receives and gives a knowledgeable and concise patient report to others, as necessary to demonstrate awareness of patient’s overall condition.
Initiates Clinical Pathways/Plan of Care on appropriate patient population on admission.
Updates and initiates Care Plans and Pathways as changes in patient’s needs are assessed.
Maintains Pathway documentation.
Keeps Patient Care Activity Record to accurately reflect patients current needs.
Recognizes need for effective pain management. Utilizes all resources available to include conventional pain management and alternative pain management and documents.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
At least 1-2 years Medical/Surgical experience required
Perioperative experience preferred
Active RN License in Delaware
BLS required.
