About the Role
Location: Sunshine, VIC
Department: Supply Chain
We are looking for an experienced Material Planner to join our Supply Chain team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability of raw and packaging materials to support the Master Production Plan, while balancing service levels, inventory, and cost across the business.
You will manage the flow of inbound materials into the Sunshine production site, monitor inventory levels, and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure materials are available to meet production and customer demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and review material requirement plans for raw and packaging materials.
- Oversee the planning and supply of materials for the Sunshine production site.
- Review MRP outputs to ensure MOQs and inventory targets are met.
- Facilitate daily production planning meetings to monitor progress and align with factory capacity and sales demand.
- Manage and resolve MRP exception messages on a regular basis.
- Collaborate with the Finished Goods Planning team to ensure materials are available according to the latest production schedule.
- Liaise with the Warehouse Manager to ensure material availability while avoiding unnecessary inventory at site level.
- Monitor out-of-stock (OOS) situations and expedite materials when required.
- Create and manage purchase orders in the ERP system, ensuring accurate delivery dates and PO integrity.
- Track and follow up on open POs, expediting deliveries where necessary within agreed lead times.
- Provide forecasts to suppliers based on MRP outputs and support lifecycle management decisions.
- Identify and implement improvements to purchasing and planning processes using best practice tools and systems.
- Participate in SLOB (Slow and Obsolete Stock) reviews and drive improvement actions.
- Support Finance with invoice discrepancy investigations when required.
- Conduct regular reviews of material master data and safety stock levels.
Key Performance Indicators
- Service performance – On-time and in-full delivery capability
- Inventory levels – measured in value and days
- SLOB management and inventory optimization
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring strong planning, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities along with experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
You will ideally have:
- Minimum Diploma qualification in any discipline
- At least 5 years’ experience in supply chain, materials planning, or inventory management
- Strong knowledge of MRP systems and advanced Excel skills
- Experience working with SAP or similar ERP systems
- A strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret large datasets
- Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
- High levels of resilience, accountability, and results orientation, with the ability to work independently under pressure
