Job Description

Director, Footwear Production

San Francisco, CA

At Rothy’s, we know there’s a better way to do business, and it starts by putting the planet and its people first. More than 225 million single-use plastic bottles and 715,000 pounds of ocean-bound marine plastic have been transformed into our signature thread, creating wardrobe staples that look just as good as they feel.

Striving for zero waste, we combine 3D knitting technology and handcrafted assembly to create machine washable styles that don’t compromise on comfort. From classic shoes to carry-everywhere bags, we create essentials for wherever you go.

At Rothy’s, building a sustainable future is at the heart of everything we do. We pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive environment at our HQ, retail stores and wholly-owned factory, and are growing our community every day.

About the Team:

Our Production team is always one step ahead. While many teams are responsible for responding to moments in the present, this one looks toward the future. From finessing the production of our silhouettes to developing new materials, our production gurus work hand-in-hand with our factory team to make sure the wheels of Rothy’s keep turning on our quest for a more sustainable future.

About the role:

As our Director, Footwear Production, you'll sit at the heart of how we bring great footwear (and more) to life. This is a role for someone who loves building — whether that's scalable systems, high-performing teams, or strong factory partnerships. You'll work across nearly every function in the business, connecting the dots between planning, sourcing, logistics, and distribution to keep our global operations running smoothly and our products landing on time. If you're energized by solving complex operational challenges, developing the people around you, and making a real impact on how a growing brand executes at scale, this is the role for you.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead day-to-day production operations across footwear, apparel, accessories, and home categories, building scalable processes that keep teams aligned, accountable, and moving forward

  • Serve as a trusted cross-functional partner to Brand, Planning, Sourcing, Logistics, Wholesale, Retail, and Distribution teams — building the relationships that make seasonal launches smoother and keep delivery consistent across all channels

  • Collaborate with Planning and Finance on demand forecasting, inventory planning, and Open to Buy management, with a focus on better planning accuracy and healthier inventory outcomes

  • Monitor inventory flow, supply risk, and production commitments across wholesale, retail, and ecommerce channels

  • Work hand-in-hand with sourcing teams and factory partners to keep production on track — from WIP and shipment readiness to delivery performance

  • Navigate ambiguity and competing priorities with composure, resolving production, material, or delivery challenges by rallying the right people and driving toward resolution without losing others in the process

  • Support capacity planning and look for ongoing opportunities to improve factory processes and efficiencies

  • Partner with sourcing and procurement on material planning, supplier commitments, and lead time management, staying ahead of supply chain risk before issues escalate

  • Keep material timelines and seasonal production calendars aligned across internal teams and external partners

  • Build and roll out scalable systems, workflows, and reporting structures that keep global teams connected and informed

  • Lead implementation and optimization of ERP, PLM, WIP tracking, and production management tools

  • Develop dashboards, KPI scorecards, and reporting frameworks that give leadership clear visibility into performance and priorities

  • Partner with wholesale teams to support retailer launches, compliance needs, and on-time delivery, while aligning production schedules with DC intake and launch windows

  • Support efforts to reduce air freight through smarter planning and proactive operational management

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team that's passionate about doing great work together, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

  • Strengthen communication and alignment across regional and global teams as the business scales, bridging functional and organizational differences through intentional relationship building

You are:

  • A natural connector who builds authentic relationships across functions, time zones, and business units — knowing that the best operational outcomes start with the right people aligned

  • A systems thinker who loves building scalable processes and isn't satisfied until the operational infrastructure actually works

  • A strong analytical problem-solver who can cut through complexity and make clear, confident decisions

  • Someone who leads with accountability and brings a sense of urgency — without losing the ability to bring people along with you

  • Energized by operational transformation and excited by the challenge of building something that scales

You have:

  • 10+ years of experience in global production, operations, supply chain, procurement, or manufacturing leadership

  • Deep expertise across inventory planning, production execution, logistics, and supply chain operations

  • Experience partnering with sourcing teams, factories, OEMs, ODMs, and global suppliers

  • A track record of building and scaling operational systems, workflows, and cross-functional processes

  • Hands-on experience leading ERP, PLM, inventory planning, or supply chain systems implementations and optimizations

  • Strong understanding of S&OP, forecasting, inventory management, operational reporting, and delivery execution

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to flex your style across audiences, from factory partners to C-suite stakeholders

  • A demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional peers, drive alignment, and build organizational trust at scale

  • Experience supporting wholesale, retail, and ecommerce operational execution

  • Experience managing teams and leading operational transformation initiatives

  • A background in footwear, apparel, and/or accessories

Our benefits:

  • Generous paid time off

  • 401k matching

  • Comprehensive health plans for you and your family

  • Supplemental mental health benefits

  • Monthly wellness reimbursement

  • Dog friendly offices

  • Employee Discount Program!

Pay range:

$187,000 - $227,000 annually

Base pay is one part of the total rewards package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work. This role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
