Job Description

Responsibilities:

Job Summary: The Histology Technologist performs various tasks required for receiving, processing, and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the Pathologist. This may include logging, batching, and cutting, mounting and staining procedures. 

  1. Processes, embeds, cuts, stains, and coverslips tissue preparations to provide material to pathologist.

  2. Evaluates quality of sections/slides before giving to pathologist.

  3. Processes cytologic material.

  4. Performs special stains as requested.

  5. Performs clinical examination (grossing) of tissue as assigned.

  6. Prepares materials that need to be sent to reference labs.

  7. Other duties as assigned.

     

     


    Qualifications:

Education:

  • Baccalaureate degree in chemical or biological science, or medical technology from an accredited institution, or otherwise meeting regulatory requirements.
