Job Description
Prysmian is the world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry. Each year, the company manufactures thousands of miles of underground and submarine cables and systems for power transmission and distribution, as well as medium low voltage cables for the construction and infrastructure sectors. We also produce a comprehensive range of optical fibers, copper cables and connectivity for voice, video and data transmission for the telecommunication sector.
We are 30,000 employees, across 50+ countries. Everyone at Prysmian has the potential to make their mark; because whatever you do, wherever you are based, you will be part of a company that is helping transform the world around us.
Project Engineer – Build the Future of Our Expanding Operations
If you’re an engineer who loves being in the field, solving technical challenges, and bringing complex industrial projects to life, this role puts you at the center of our company’s growth. We’re expanding, investing, and modernizing — and we need a hands‑on Project Engineer who thrives in fast‑paced environments and wants to take ownership of capital projects from design through commissioning.
You’ll work directly with plant Engineering Managers and manufacturing teams to execute projects that upgrade infrastructure, expand capacity, and install advanced cable‑manufacturing machinery. This is a role for someone who wants to be close to the equipment, the drawings, and the build — not sitting behind a desk all day.
Why This Role Matters
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Capital Projects, you’ll be on-site driving the technical execution of major investments. Your engineering expertise will ensure our layouts, foundations, utilities, and equipment installations are designed correctly, built correctly, and delivered on schedule.
If you enjoy problem‑solving, field work, and seeing your designs turn into real‑world results, you’ll feel right at home here.
What You’ll Work On
Engineering & Technical Execution
- Develop, update, and maintain 2D/3D CAD layouts for plant equipment, utilities, and production lines.
- Review and verify machinery foundations, structural components, and installation requirements, applying strong knowledge of steel and concrete.
- Support equipment installation, alignment, and commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot technical issues in the field and collaborate with vendors and contractors to resolve them quickly.
Project Coordination & Delivery
- Assist in defining project scope, technical requirements, and feasibility.
- Build detailed project plans and track progress against schedule and budget.
- Coordinate with internal engineering teams, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
- Be present on-site during critical construction and installation phases to ensure technical accuracy.
- Manage project documentation, drawings, change logs, and installation records.
- Support procurement, equipment specifications, and vendor evaluations.
- Perform additional engineering tasks that keep the project moving efficiently.
What You Bring
- Strong engineering mindset with the ability to analyze, design, and troubleshoot technical systems.
- Experience supporting or managing capital projects, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Excellent communication skills for working with engineers, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
- Solid budgeting and cost‑tracking awareness.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting/design software.
- Comfortable working on-site and overseeing daily technical activities during key project phases.
- Willingness to travel up to 60%, depending on project needs.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
You’ll join a company that’s actively investing in new equipment, new technology, and new facilities — giving you the chance to work on meaningful, high‑impact engineering projects. You’ll have the freedom to apply your technical skills, solve real problems, and see your work directly influence plant performance and future growth.
If you’re a hands‑on engineer who wants to build, design, and deliver real industrial projects, this is the place to make it happen.
