Job Description
MassBay Community College seeks qualified part-time instructors to educate the next generation of Emergency Medical Services professionals. This instructor teaches classroom, skills lab, and simulation laboratory courses in the EMT and Paramedicine Programs. The ideal candidate will work as part of a team, demonstrate a passion for collaborative work with diverse faculty, staff and students and have an ability to positively influence, mentor and work with a diverse student population of the Emergency Medical Services program. This instructor adheres to faculty responsibilities in accordance with regulations set forth by the MA OEMS (Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services) and, standards set forth by CoAEMSP (Committee on Accreditation of Emergency Medical Service Providers). This candidate must exhibit an appreciation of, and sensitivity to, and respect for a rich and diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds, and those with differing abilities. Key Responsibilities and Duties Teaching in EMT and Paramedicine Programs to include classroom, clinical, laboratory courses, and simulation-based courses. May include day and evening courses. Prepare syllabi and develop curricula for lectures, laboratory, and simulation settings to address course and program student learning outcomes and Graduation Competencies as appropriate. Teach effectively in a traditional or hybrid environment. Serve as an advisor to students, as needed. Participate in College, Division and Program meetings, as needed. Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes. Maintain a safe environment during skills training and evaluation sessions. Participate in and support the accreditation efforts of EMS. Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate. Maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation required by the program and accreditation agencies. This list is not to be considered all-inclusive.
