Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Service Technician IV performs service and repairs on a variety of rental equipment as a master technician to ensure that equipment continues to run according to manufacturer’s specifications and is in optimal ready to use condition for rental customers. The Service Technician IV serves may serve as a team lead and assign responsibilities, scheduling, resolve problems as needed to ensure that repair work is done safely, efficiently and accurately.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Diagnose and repair equipment, to include liquid propane, gas, and diesel engines, electric motors, transmissions, drive axles, differentials, hydraulic systems, brake systems, steering systems, electrical systems, lifting systems, etc.
Perform diagnostic troubleshooting and failure analysis on all components and systems
Rebuild components or parts.
May lead a team of service technicians to coach and mentor other, review repairs, assign repair orders and schedule technicians. Provides training as needed.
Check repair work and approve the release of repaired equipment for delivery to the customer
Properly block, chock and chain equipment, and disassemble equipment as needed to facilitate major component removal and repair
Perform equipment inspections to identify potential problems and safety concerns
Perform routine and preventive scheduled maintenance such as oil changes, add fluids, changing worn parts and other maintenance items.
Record maintenance and repair work performed by completing necessary paperwork in a timely manner
Perform basic welding as necessary

Complete basic and advanced technical training as assigned
Maintain parts and supplies needed for job completion
Maintain a culture of safety & participate in all safety meetings
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Basic Knowledge & Competencies:
Excellent customer service skills
Mastery of repair work for heavy equipment, machinery and other types of equipment utilized in the construction, manufacturing or distribution industry.
Ability to read precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, etc.
Excellent mechanical aptitude, technical knowledge and problem- solving skills
Good verbal and written communication skills
Previous Experience/Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required
Mechanical or trade school certificate preferred
Certifications or manufacturers training is highly desireable
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in equipment repair or related industry preferred
Welding and/or fabrication skills and/or experience preferred
Valid driver’s license required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Standing, walking, lifting, twisting and bending on a frequent basis
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
Must furnish own tools
