Program Summary: Project HOPE is providing humanitarian assistance to the conflict-affected population in Gaza. The current response portfolio focuses on Health, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, Protection, and WASH programming through Project HOPE programs and local partnerships. POSITION SUMMARY: The Gynecologist will improve the health of our female patients by providing excellent care and advice. OBS and Gynecologist Principal Responsibilities: - Deliver comprehensive gynecological and obstetric healthcare services, including prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, in accordance with established clinical guidelines and hygiene protocols. - Support the effective management of maternity clinics in close coordination with the Senior Country Team Leadership. - Interpret diagnostic test results, communicate treatment plans and prescribed medications to patients, and provide counseling on reproductive and maternal health matters. - Ensure the consistent application of Project HOPE’s clinical policies, tools, guidelines, and protocols related to gynecology and obstetrics to mitigate clinical risks and promote best practices in reproductive health. - Supervise midwives, monitor their performance, and ensure the effective execution of all responsibilities within the obstetrics and gynecology unit. - Remain informed of updates to clinical protocols and technical guidance issued by the Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Cluster and other relevant stakeholders and attend when Possible coordinating with Medical team Lead . - Participate in relevant training sessions and capacity-building activities, ensuring that such participation does not disrupt the continuity of care within the SRH unit. The uninterrupted delivery of services must remain the highest priority. - Make informed decisions regarding patient discharge or referral, and ensure that referral procedures are executed promptly and efficiently to prevent complications. - Oversee the rational use and distribution of medications and medical supplies, ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of medical equipment, and promptly report any malfunctions to the supervisor. - Clearly communicate diagnoses and treatment plans to patients and their families, ensuring full understanding and obtaining informed consent. - Consistently uphold hygiene standards and universal precautions, and implement effective infection prevention and control measures to minimize biohazard risks. - Make all medical decisions with the highest standards of professional integrity and in alignment with the applicable Code of Medical Ethics. - Provide midwives and nursing staff with clear objectives, ongoing mentorship, and opportunities for professional development. - Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all collected data and submit required reports in a timely manner. - Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information and medical records, sharing such information only with duly authorized personnel. - Perform any additional duties as assigned, in accordance with operational requirements . Gynecologist Skills: · Ability to discuss sensitive information with patients and families. · Ability to provide a calm presence for patients in distress. · Ability to make decisions quickly and stay calm under pressure. · Excellent verbal and written communication. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from a recognized university. Completion of a specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Valid medical license to practice as a Gynecologist in the relevant country/region. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in gynecology, preferably including experience in hospitals, clinics, or with NGOs/healthcare organizations. Strong knowledge of women’s health, prenatal and postnatal care, reproductive health, and gynecological procedures. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to medical ethics, patient confidentiality, and high-quality care standards.
