Job Description

Summary

The Model‑Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) plays a central role in developing and maintaining the authoritative Systems Modeling Language (SysML) system model that supports the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center – Navy (JITTC‑N) flight simulation environment. Using Cameo Systems Modeler, the MBSE ensures architectural accuracy, maintains the system’s “single source of truth,” and translates operational needs into clear, actionable models. The role also develops supporting 2D/3D technical documentation—such as network diagrams, rack elevations, and wiring schematics—to support procurement, installation, integration, and maintenance activities.

Impact

  • Ensures architectural consistency across a complex Information Technology (IT) ecosystem integrating engineering, networking, cybersecurity, audio/visual (A/V), and simulation components.
  • Strengthens governance and risk management by delivering model‑based impact assessments that support the Configuration Control Board (CCB).
  • Provides accurate, stakeholder‑ready system artifacts that directly enable mission‑critical training and testing for U.S. Air Force and Department of Defense (DoD) operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Model Development: Build, manage, and maintain the authoritative SysML model using Cameo Systems Modeler, representing both current and planned system states.
  • Requirements Management: Translate stakeholder needs into formal, verifiable system and subsystem requirements within the model.
  •  Architectural Modeling & Analysis: Model system structure, behavior, interfaces, and interactions; generate formal assessments to support CCB decision‑making.
  • Technical Drafting & Visualization: Create and maintain 2D/3D technical materials—including network diagrams, rack elevations, wiring drawings, and facility/component layouts—using Microsoft Visio and AutoCAD.
  • Stakeholder Documentation: Produce tailored architectural views, reports, matrices, and specifications to support program management, engineering teams, cybersecurity, and Test & Evaluation (T&E) stakeholders.
Success in this Position Requires
  • Initiative and strong work ethic with the ability to work independently, collaborate with teams, and solve complex problems in a development and prototyping environment.
  • Strong analytical thinking to identify issues, interpret data, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Clear, concise communication skills to document, present, and explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Effective collaboration and schedule awareness to support contract milestones and program success.
