Program Overview
An 18-Month Season of Formation and Ministry
The Family Ministry Residency is an 18-month leadership development experience designed for individuals who sense a calling to vocational ministry, particularly in family and children’s discipleship. This residency exists to assess, equip, and develop leaders who will not only enter ministry but endure and flourish in it.
Residents are immersed in both spiritual formation and hands-on leadership, with a focus on becoming Christlike leaders who understand their unique calling, gifting, and capacity. Our goal is not just to train skilled ministry leaders, but to form resilient, healthy disciples of Jesus who can lead for the long haul.
Residency Structure
Duration: July 1, 2026 – December 31, 2027
Weekly Structure: 25 Hours per week
Residency Cohort (5 hours/week)
Deep Formation for Lifelong Ministry
Residents participate in a weekly cohort centered on five essential areas of long-term ministry health, drawn from Resilient Ministry:
- Spiritual Formation
- Self-Care
- Emotional and Cultural Intelligence
- Marriage and Family
- Leadership and Management
Residents will:
- Gather weekly (1.5 hours) with the Residency Director and guest leaders for teaching, discussion, and leadership development
- Engage in guided reading and reflection
- Participate in bi-weekly one-on-one coaching for personalized development
- Grow in self-awareness, emotional health, and spiritual maturity
- Spend time support raising (if needed)
Practical Ministry Experience (20 hours/week)
Real Leadership. Real Responsibility. Real Impact.
Residents will serve within Family Ministry, gaining hands-on experience while being coached and developed as leaders. This is not observational, residents take meaningful ownership and leadership within the ministry.
Family Ministry Track
Leading and Discipling the Next Generation
The Family Ministry Resident will serve alongside the Family Ministry Director to help lead and grow a thriving children’s ministry while investing in families.
Key responsibilities include:
- Learning and helping lead the weekly operations of Sunday morning children’s ministry
- Recruiting, training, and shepherding a team of volunteers
- Developing and implementing curriculum across various age groups
- Creating and leading discipleship opportunities for parents
- Partnering with families to support spiritual formation in the home
- Participating in staff meetings and contributing to the overall vision of the church
