Job Description

  • Lead development of PRA modules and/or associated thermal-hydraulic analyses that support risk-informed design and licensing activities.
  • Develop Level 1 and Level 2 PRA models for internal and external events during full power and low power / shutdown operating modes.
    • Thermal-hydraulic analysis specialization: lead RELAP5-3D and MELCOR modeling to simulate core and containment response for severe accident scenarios that inform PRA quantifications.
    • Logic modeling specialization: develop and quantify event trees and fault trees to estimate key design risk metrics including core damage frequency (CDF) and large release frequency (LRF).
  • Lead PSA model maintenance and updates that occur periodically as the SMR-300 design matures
  • Use PSA results to support implementation of risk-informed programs; for example, Regulatory Treatment of Non-Safety Systems (RTNSS), Design Reliability Assurance Program (D-RAP), 10 CFR 50.69 risk-informed categorization and treatment of SSCs.
  • Interface with the design team to communicate and implement PSA insights
  • Mentor junior staff on PSA methods and modeling tools
  • Ensure consistency and quality of all PSA deliverables
