Job Description
SEIDOR Networks is looking for a NOC Engineer to join a growing team based in Woodmead, JHB.
The SEIDOR Networks NOC performs exception-based remote monitoring of customer network devices, servers and endpoints to key global regions. Exceptions are identified and automatically logged to provide remote technical IT support to these customers.
He/she is responsible for the management of the Alerts board and resolving all relevant alerts created daily. The NOC engineer will also assist the NOC Administrator with improvements, day-to-day tasks and escalations as necessary.
This is the perfect role for a self-motivated individual with a natural technical enquiring mind with industry-relevant experience and the ability to work in a process-driven environment.
Role Requirements
- Must have at least 2-years industry-relevant experience
- Must be able to travel to and from the Woodmead office to perform his/her daily duties as needed
Essential Technical Knowledge and Experience
- A+ / N+
- MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)
- At least 2-years’ Microsoft 365 technical work experience
- Understanding of Public Cloud and at least 1-years’ technical experience
- At least 2-years working experience with any routing vendor equipment and/or software
- At least 2-years’ experience with Layer-2 networking and VLAN’s
- At least 2-years’ work experience with Sophos XG Firewalls
- Advanced Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating Systems
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills
- Advanced Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems
- Advanced Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy knowledge experience
- Advanced Microsoft Hyper-V knowledge with at least 3-years’ experience
- Advanced DHCP and DNS Functionality
Advanced understanding of:
- Switching / VLAN’s
- Routing / NAT / Dynamic Routing
- Packet flow
- Email flow
- UTM and Firewall appliances
- Wireless networks
Advantageous Certifications and Knowledge:
- ITIL Foundation
- N-Able
- ConnectWise Manage
- CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Administrator) is beneficial
- Basic scripting
- Mimecast
- cPanel
- SSL Certificates
- Apache / IIS knowledge
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate telephonically and electronically with customers, vendors, and senior network engineers for escalations
- Identify, report, and resolve network, VLAN, Wi-Fi and server connectivity problems
- Identify, report, and resolve Firewall, VPN & Internet connectivity problems
- Identify, report, and resolve possible Ant-Virus, Windows Patching, and other security exceptions from dashboards
- Identify and report pre-emptive server hardware failures
- Identify and report on Windows and Hyper-V health
- Identify and report exceptions from daily backup checks
- Identify and report server disk space exceptions
- Identify and report Windows DHCP & DNS warnings
- Ability to work in a team & independently to provide customer service
- Ability to prioritize, escalate and request assistance when needed in a timely manner
- Must be open to learning new technologies and service delivery methodologies
