Job Description
The Project Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end build and delivery of server platforms to support application deployment, with a focus on SAP Business One SQL and/or HANA environments. This includes provisioning infrastructure, performing system installations and configurations, and ensuring platforms are secure, stable, and optimized.
The role also involves implementing security controls, supporting core application setup, and delivering fully functional, production-ready environments.
The engineer is expected to take full ownership of technical delivery, working independently to manage tasks, resolve issues, and ensure on-time and on-scope delivery. Strong collaboration and clear documentation are essential for a successful handover and delivery of a production-ready server platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform remote cloud and on-premise server setups, including occasional onsite physical deployments, for single-tenant and multi-tenant environments
- Execute disk configuration and storage provisioning
- Install, configure, and optimize Microsoft Windows and SQL Server environments
- Join servers to Active Directory (AD) and ensure correct domain configurations
- Implement and configure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) solutions
- Conduct server optimization to ensure performance, stability, and scalability
- Perform base system testing to validate readiness for application deployment
- Install and perform base configuration of SAP Business One environments
- Configure FTP services where required
- Ensure all deployments meet internal standards, security policies, and Customer requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across the server build lifecycle
- Maintain clear documentation of configurations, processes, and handover details
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure on-time and on-spec and on-budget delivery.
Role Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Matric certificate or higher
- 3-5 years industry and role-relevant experience
- Must be willing to learn new skills & technologies
- Must be willing to complete predetermined certifications at regular intervals
Certifications (Preferred):
- CompTIA A+ / Network+
- Microsoft Windows Server certifications
Certifications (Beneficial):
- CompTIA Linux+
- Huawei Certified Cloud Developer Associate (HCCDA)
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
- AWS Solution Architect Associate
- AZ-900T00-A: Introduction to Cloud Infrastructure
- AZ-104: Azure Administrator Associates
Core Competencies
- Proven experience in server deployment and infrastructure build activities
- Strong knowledge of:
- Windows Server operating systems
- Active Directory (AD) integration
- Exposure to physical server rollouts and/or Public and/or private cloud environments (e.g. Private Datacentre, AWS, Azure, Huawei Cloud) and
- Solid understanding of server performance tuning and optimization
- Experience with disk/storage configuration and infrastructure planning
- Ability to perform independent troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability in delivering end-to-end solutions on-time, on-spec and on-budget
- Good communication skills and ability to work within project-driven environments
Beneficial Knowledge and/or Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technologies and/or computer sciences
- Knowledge of FTP configuration
- Microsoft SQL Server installation and configuration
- Experience with SAP Business One SQL and/or HANA installations and basic system setup
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills
- N-Central RMM
- ITIL and/or Project methodology knowledge and experience
