Job Description
The Global Risk & Compliance (GRC) organization serves as American Express’ independent risk management function. GRC maintains the enterprise risk framework, provides oversight and challenge, and monitors key risks. By embedding risk discipline into strategy and operations, GRC enables responsible growth, innovation, and long-term value creation while protecting customers and shareholders.
The Compliance Specialist brings a good understanding of Compliance and in-depth AML/CTF knowledge to provide advice & support to the Business. You will be involved in all aspects of AML-related activities, including but not limited to, monitoring and interpretation of new regulatory requirements, development of policies & procedures, supporting the transaction monitoring and screening program including investigation and reporting, risk assessment & participation in AML-related projects and initiatives.
- Conduct investigations from a Second Line perspective regarding Transaction Monitoring, Screening, and Enhanced Due Diligence activities.
- Acting independently and providing advice on AML/CTF matters, representing the Netherlands Compliance team, during interactions with Business partners.
- Support the (Deputy) MLRO in the team coordination, ensuring a prompt escalation of potential issues.
- Support the development of applicable policies and procedures and regular updates in the areas of AML/CTF and Sanctions.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations and internal policy requirements.
- Support the (Deputy) MLRO in creation of AML/CTF, Sanctions, Anti-Corruption reporting towards colleagues and Senior Management.
- Compliance experience and in-depth knowledge of AML/CTF required.
- Higher education, AML certificate is a plus.
- Proactive and solution oriented.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations pertaining to the payments industry and financial crimes compliance in the Netherlands and EU.
- Professional maturity and confidence in expressing a point of view with colleagues at various levels.
- Self-motivated, energetic team player with ability to work effectively in a matrix organization with all levels of management.
- The ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work in a deadline-intensive environment.
- Excellent knowledge of Dutch and English language, spoken and written.
