Carry out investigations on engines or parts that have been returned for repair or overhaul to determine the reasons for defects and recommend remedial action using root cause analysis
Issue engineering instructions to define engine specific R&O work scopes
Liaise with the Material Control Board. Perform engine parts recertification, if required
Review Overhaul and Inspection Reports directed to Engineering by R&O planners to determine the ultimate disposition of deviating part
Must be able to make decisions using basic engineering principles and knowledge of the part’s function in the engine to assess whether a part is acceptable as is, requires a rework of some form or must be scrapped as being beyond usable or economical recovery
Develop new or modify existing repair schemes to fix unserviceable gas turbine engine components
Must be able to analyze data to establish trending patterns and make a decision for use or recovery of parts
Support Continuing Airworthiness activities including technical publications review
May need to interpret the R&O manual requirements for inspection, planning or engine assembly personnel
