Job Description
Purpose and Impact: Amentum has an opportunity for a full-time position in the role of a Locksmith to join their team at the Alice Springs Office.
The Locksmith position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor with day-to-day activities overseen by the Senior Maintenance Officer You will perform the maintenance, repair and renovation of locks and keys for properties and associated facilities within the town of Alice Springs. Call outs may be required occasionally.
Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday 0730- 1600Hrs and Friday 0730-1330Hrs (38-hour week)
Essential Responsibilities:
Minimum Essential
Desirable
Certificate III in Locksmithing
Training in appropriate safety procedures (i.e., Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, Electrical Safety, Personal Protective Equipment, Lockout/Tagout, Working in Trenches etc.)
Demonstrated 2 years minimum experience in locksmith industry
Strategic with proven project management skills
Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.
General locksmith experience and knowledge in residential, commercial and government settings
Ability to work within a team environment
Knowledge in the application of “Building Code of Australia” (BCA) and “National Construction Code” (NCC)
Ability to work professionally with minimal supervision
Knowledge in application of industry best practice as set by “Master Locksmith Association of Australia” (MLAA) and “Locksmith Guild of Australia” (LGA)
Good interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
Experience on high security non-inline key systems.
Good communication skills – verbal and written
Experience in the use of Pro-Master 8 and managing key systems and matrixes

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities/Duties
Maintenance of locks (doors, gates, cabinets, windows etc.) as required, either programmed (planned) maintenance or repairs
Ordering and planning of tools, equipment, assistance and materials needed to complete tasks
Develop and maintain an accurate record of locks and keys
Professionally manage any master key system introduced
Maintain codes in line with customer guidelines
Liaise with others to notify and organize tasks to be undertaken as required
Ensure that equipment is maintained to operate in a safe manner
Report any incidents to management as a priority
Use of computer systems to record and plan work tasks
Work as part of a team
Assist in other areas of facilities and maintenance area from time to time as required
Work to ensure that safety is an integral part of everyday activities
Other duties as directed by the Vesta management team
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: Alice Springs climate ranges from cold winters to hot summers. Locksmith tasks include outdoor works in varying conditions.
Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
At least 18 years of age.
Able to fluently read, write and speak English
Completing work task in a safe manner
Reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to their supervisor and/or Vesta PMO/EHS Manager
Continuous adherence to the environmental, health and safety procedures outlined in the JDFPG Handbook during the performance of their work
Red-Carding a Job - Employee right and responsibility to “STOP WORK” if a job is unsafe or possess a danger to the environment
Clearance Required: It is a condition of employment at JDFPG that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. The employee will require a NV-1/SECRET Department of Defense Security Clearance (Australian) or SSBI (U.S.) clearance.
Minimum Education:
Minimum Years of Experience: At least 2 years’ experience as a trade qualified locksmith.
Required Certifications: Certificate III in Locksmithing
