Operational Lead – Opera Cloud | TFE Hotels - Sydney | Fixed Term Contract

TFE Hotels is on an exciting global Digital Transformation journey, and we’re looking for an Operational Lead – Opera Cloud to help bring it to life.

In this pivotal role, you’ll be the operational voice and subject matter expert for Opera Cloud across our hotel network. You’ll bridge the worlds of Hotel Operations and Technology, ensuring our PMS ecosystem delivers exceptional guest experiences, operational efficiency, and commercial performance.

About the role:

  • Contract role until December 2026
  • offered as hybrid - 1 day WFO / 4 days WFH
  • Monday to Friday working hours

Reporting to the Director, Operations Systems and the go‑to expert for Opera Cloud, you will:

Operational Systems Leadership

  • Champion Opera Cloud best practice across the business
  • Provide expert guidance on configuration, workflows, and optimisation
  • Identify opportunities to enhance functionality and elevate guest experience
  • Partner with Operations & Head Office teams on continuous improvement

Requirements & Solution Design

  • Translate operational needs into clear system requirements
  • Document user stories, scenarios, and process impacts
  • Provide structured recommendations for enhancements
  • Ensure solutions reflect real operational workflows & align to SOPs

Reporting & Analytics

  • Interpret reporting needs and translate them into actionable requirements
  • Build and maintain Opera Cloud reports using Oracle Reporting & Analytics
  • Drive insights that help teams make informed commercial and operational decisions
  • Influence improvements in data accuracy and usability

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Hotel GMs, Reservations, Finance, BI, F&B and more
  • Act as a trusted advisor to project teams and systems specialists
  • Influence decisions that shape our future digital landscape

Training & User Support

  • Develop training materials and user documentation
  • Support platform enhancements, feature rollouts, and change initiatives
  • Contribute to building capability, confidence, and system adoption

What You Bring

  • 6+ years hotel industry experience with strong operational grounding
  • Practical PMS knowledge (Opera Cloud & Protel experience highly valued)
  • Deep understanding of hotel technology, PMS, POS, payments & distribution
  • Strong analytical, documentation and communication skills
  • Exceptional organisational ability, attention to detail, and stakeholder engagement
  • Customer‑centric mindset with a passion for technology and transformation
  • Ability to travel and support teams across regions.

About You:

  • A minimum of 6+ years’ experience in hotel or hospitality operations
  • Experience working in a full‑service hotel environment
  • Hands‑on Opera Cloud experience in a guest‑facing or operational role (e.g., Duty Manager, Reservations)
  • Strong analytical, documentation and communication skills
  • Deep understanding of hotel systems (Opera Cloud PMS, F&B POS, payments, operations platforms)
  • Ability to interpret operational needs and optimise technology use
  • Strong skills in documenting requirements, providing feedback, and outlining user scenarios
  • Ability to interpret reporting requests, scope needs, and build reports
  • Confidence working with peers, senior leaders, and head office teams
  • Strong understanding of hotel processes and SOPs
  • Customer‑centric mindset with a passion for technology and transformation
  • Exceptional organisational ability, attention to detail, and stakeholder engagement
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and active listening)
  • Ability to travel and support teams across regions
  • Unrestricted working rights in Australia, with eligibility to work without sponsorship
