PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside is growing, and we need a leader who can guide and provide financial analysis and strategy to grow our financial position. We are searching for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join our team of high-performing professionals and keep our finances positioned for continued success. The CFO will have a day-to-day, ongoing impact on organization's operations. As a member of senior management, the CFO will be comfortable in a leadership role that requires clear and effective communication skills.

OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE

Take responsibility for financial accounting and reporting, cash management, budgeting, forecasting, investments, insurance and compliance with the financial requirements of government, corporate, and private grants. The CFO will help drive the organization’s financial strategy and hiring needs. Coordinate the timely development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets. Ensure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organization. Develop and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled organization that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows. Comply with national and local financial requirements by remaining informed of existing and new accounting pronouncements and legislation and taking appropriate action.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside has proudly served youth and families since 1967. KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with senior leadership and teammates to efficiently develop budget proposals and ensure contract/grant compliance and reporting.

  • Oversee the process for identifying and evaluating opportunities for improved financial operations, recordkeeping and reporting, working with external auditors to prepare and review audit schedules and annual report of audit findings.

  • Perform risk management through analysis of organization’s cash flow and investments, and evaluate and manage capital structure and fundraising initiatives

  • Manage payroll for over 1,000 teammates. Prepare anticipated payroll costs for one to five year projections and remain current with wage and hour legal requirements.

  • Provide consultation and analysis to Director of Human Resources of teammate benefits models.

  • Monitor business performance with tracking tools, establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare timely detailed reports for the board of directors, management team monthly and as needed.

  • Build and manage a robust team of finance personnel and oversee financial accounting systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory entities.

  • Establish and implement policies and procedures for financial management functions, ensuring appropriate controls and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Oversee the process for identifying and evaluating opportunities for improved financial operations, recordkeeping and reporting, working with external auditors to prepare and review audit schedules and annual report of audit findings.

  • Attend meetings of Executive Committee, Board of Directors, Finance Committee for presentations and in an advisory role, as requested.

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal: Maintain contact with Unit Directors/Managers to provide technical assistance in matters of financial operations; interact regularly with Chief Executive Officer and the Board to develop fiscal policies and budgets, and to present regular reports in an advisory capacity.

  • External: Maintain contact with external auditors, vendors, insurance carriers, and other groups.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills

  • Five or more years of experience in financial executive leadership roles

  • Excellent leadership skills and personal integrity

  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Understanding of advanced accounting, not-for-profit accounting and regulatory issues.

  • Master’s degree in accounting, business accounting, or finance, or Certified Public Accountant preferably with experience performing audits of not-for-profit organizations.

  • Thorough knowledge of budgeting and accounting practices, processes and procedures of non-profit organizations.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize, direct and coordinate operations in personnel supervision; the recruitment and retention of key personnel.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Normal internal office environment. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects required for clerical tasks. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time and not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
