Position Summary: The Department of Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Dietetics (KiND) at the University of Northern Colorado invites applications for part-time faculty positions as we build our capacity to offer quality instruction on various topics within several program areas: dietetics, physical education, physical activity leadership, nutrition, human performance, exercise science, sports coaching, sport administration, and athletic training. Positions are part-time faculty to teach undergraduate or graduate classes in the Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Dietetics programs. Courses in Kinesiology focus on various topics within several program areas including but not limited to physical education, physical activity leadership, exercise science, sports coaching, sport administration, and athletic training. Courses in Nutrition and Dietetics are part of an undergraduate accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (BS Dietetics), a BS Nutrition degree program, and a MS Dietetics graduate program. These positions are filled semester by semester based on the needs of the different programs. Minimum Qualifications: For teaching bachelor’s degree classes in Kinesiology: master’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, Sport Administration, or closely related field. For applicants without a master’s degree, tested experience must be met (see below). For teaching bachelor’s degree classes in Nutrition and Dietetics: master’s degree in foods, nutrition, dietetics, or related area and a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential plus two years of related experience not including a dietetic internship. To qualify through tested experience for instruction of bachelor’s degree classes in Physical Education or Sports Coaching, a faculty candidate who does not hold an appropriate master’s degree must have: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education/Sports Coaching or related field (e.g., Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Education) and possess experience and documentation in some of the following areas: 1. holds national board certification or passed appropriate pedagogical and/or content assessment and/ or holds a state teaching license in physical education. 2. has been a K-12 school leader with a minimum of 3 years leading the program relevant to the UNC courses to be taught. 3. publication(s) in primary literature of the discipline or closely related field. 4. honors, awards, or special recognition related to the discipline or a closely related field. 5. recognition of competency by professionals within the discipline or a closely related field, such as leading professional workshops, professional organization work beyond active membership, and/or professional development activity. For teaching master’s degree classes in Kinesiology: doctoral degree in Sport and Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Sport Administration or closely related field. For applicants without a doctoral degree, tested experience must be met (see below). For teaching master’s degree classes in Nutrition and Dietetics: Doctoral degree in foods, nutrition, dietetics or related area and a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential. For applicants without a doctoral degree, tested experience must be met (see below). To qualify through tested experience for instruction of master’s degree classes, a faculty candidate who does not hold an appropriate doctoral degree must have the following for each discipline. Athletic Training: 1. Master’s degree in athletic training or related field (e.g., Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Biomechanics) 2. Certified Athletic Trainer (BOC) credential 3. 2 years of Athletic Training experience, which does not include time spent in an Athletic Training internship. Nutrition and Dietetics: 1. Master’s Degree in Foods, Nutrition and/or Dietetics or related field (e.g. health, medicine, psychology, education, business, public health) 2. Registered Dietitian Nutrition Credential 3. 2 years of related experience which does not include dietetic internship (e.g. nutrition, health/wellness, food technology, research, management, medicine, public health) Exercise Science: 1. Master’s degree in Exercise Science or related field (e.g., Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Sport and/or Exercise Sociology/Psychology). 2. 2 years of related experience, which does not include time spent in an internship (e.g., fitness setting, physical rehab setting, sport performance) Sport Administration: 1. Master’s degree in Sport Administration/Sport Management or related field (e.g., Communication, Business, Economics). 2. 2 years of related experience, which does not include time spent in an internship (e.g., collegiate sports, professional sports, recreational sports industry). Physical Education and Sports Coaching: Master’s degree in Sport Pedagogy/Physical Education/Sports Coaching or related field (e.g., Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Education) and possess experience and documentation in some of the following areas: 1. holds national board certification or passed appropriate pedagogical and/or content assessment and/ or holds a state teaching license in physical education. 2. has been a K-12 school leader with a minimum of 3 years leading the program relevant to the UNC courses to be taught. 3. publication(s) in primary literature of the discipline or closely related field. 4. honors, awards, or special recognition related to the discipline or a closely related field. 5. recognition of competency by professionals within the discipline or a closely related field, such as leading professional workshops, professional organization work beyond active membership, and/or professional development activity.
