Purpose of the Role:

 

The purpose of this role is to govern inventory accuracy, inventory data integrity and associated financial outcomes across Distribution warehouse Operations.  The primary purpose of this role is to design, implement, and oversee the governance framework for inventory management, ensuring that the digital record of stocks in our systems reflects the actual & physical inventory. 

 

This position is responsible for maximizing inventory availability to customers, minimizing shrinkage and losses, managing the financial reconciliation of stocks, overseeing compliance with internal and external audit standards, and optimizing WMS logic to support accurate inventory flow. 

 

Importantly, indirect management of market and cluster Heads of inventory is to ensure appropriate skills and capability through training and development to ensure adherence to standards and execute high levels of inventory management and inventory data integrity operationally.

 

What You’ll Do :

 

  • Inventory Record Accuracy
    • Ensuring procedures and work instruction in the digital recording of stocks are consistently followed
    • Disciplined execution of stock counts (cycle count and wall-to-wall counts) in accordance with agreed policies and procedures
  • Stock Reconciliation and Compliance
    • Analyzing sources of inventory discrepancy and implementing corrective & preventative actions across process, system and security to prevent recurrence
    • Compliance with financial and operational rules for stock adjustments
  • Product Lifecycle Management
    • Minimizing loss from expiration
    • Ensuring availability of products when required
  • Process and Systems Optimization and Governance
    • Documentation of system rules and procedures
    • Compliance audits
    • Process and system governance
  • Transaction Management
    • Executing and documenting operational and financial adjustments
  • Skills & Capability Development
    • Define roles and responsibilities
    • Conduct skills and capabilities assessments
    • Identify and close gaps

 

What will make you successful:

 

Must-Have:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Industrial Engineering, or Supply Chain Management
  • 7-10 years in Inventory Control, Internal Audit, or Finance within a high-volume distribution environment.
  • Minimum 3 years in the Pharmaceutical or Medical Device sector (understanding of lot traceability, expiry management, and recall procedures is non-negotiable).
  • Global / Regional / Multi country management experience, including international work placements highly preferable
  • Deep level experience with WMS systems and platforms (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Experience reconciling WMS data with ERP financial ledgers (SAP, Oracle, etc.).

 

Advantage to Have:

 

  • Project Management (PMP Certified) an advantage
  • Lean / 6Sigma certified
  • APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) or CSCP is strongly preferred
  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt is a plus for process optimization
  • A master’s degree or CPA/CMA is highly advantageous given the financial reconciliation focus
  • Financial Acumen - Deep understanding of how inventory transactions impact the P&L and Balance Sheet (COGS, Provisions, Variance accounts). Capable of performing detailed reconciliations.
  • Data Analytics - Advanced proficiency in analytical tools to mine WMS data for variance root causes.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Pharma GxP regulations regarding documentation.
    Process Discipline - Commitment to standards; the ability to say "no" to adjustments that lack proper documentation.
