Job Description

R&D · UK - Llangadog

This position is open to recent graduates and internship-level candidates who are looking to kick-start their career in animal nutrition.

We are looking for a motivated graduate or internship-level Nutritionist who is eager to start their career in animal nutrition and gain hands-on experience within an international R&D environment.

This job is fully onsite — we all work together in person, so there’s no hybrid or work‑from‑home option.

  • You have recently completed (or are close to completing) a Master’s degree in Animal Nutrition, Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field.

  • You may have limited professional experience, but you bring strong academic knowledge, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.

  • You have a genuine interest in animal health, nutrition, and pet food innovation.

  • You are analytical, detail-oriented, and keen to apply scientific principles in a practical, real-world setting.

  • You are organised and able to manage tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with guidance and support from experienced colleagues.

  • You are comfortable working with MS Office (especially Excel) and are open to learning formulation and database systems.

  • You have good communication skills and enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams such as R&D, production, and quality.

  • You are flexible, proactive, and not afraid to ask questions or take initiative.

  • You have a good command of English, as this is our working language.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative formulas: Create and optimize nutrition formulas based on deep knowledge of raw materials and animal nutrition, ensuring they meet the specific dietary needs of animals across various markets.

  • Recipe optimization: Analyze existing formulas and identify opportunities for improvement in terms of health, cost, and quality.

  • Innovation and continuous improvement: Actively contribute to the development of new products and the improvement of existing ones, ensuring that we stay ahead in the competitive pet food market.

  • Market research and trend analysis: Continuously monitor market trends, emerging ingredients, and consumer preferences to ensure that product offerings remain competitive and innovative.

  • Collaborate across international teams: Engage with production and R&D teams within the United Petfood Group to ensure consistent product quality and formula implementation across different manufacturing sites.

  • Manage formulation programs: Manage formulation programs at both recipe and ingredient levels, including overseeing pilot productions and ensuring consistency in product quality.

What we offer

  • A market competitive salary package that fits your needs and experience.

  • A challenging position within a rapidly growing and dynamic organization.

  • A company culture where entrepreneurship, a doer mentality, down-to-earthiness, and flexibility are central. We encourage career growth, allowing you to take control of your own development opportunities.

  • The opportunity to take on a lot of responsibility and contribute to building qualitative products and streamlined processes.
