Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Horticulturist to join our team at our luxurious resort in Villa Haven, Maldives. As a Horticulturist, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the lush tropical landscapes that make our property a paradise for our guests.

  • Design, implement, and maintain beautiful and sustainable landscaping throughout the resort
  • Cultivate and care for a wide variety of tropical plants, flowers, and trees
  • Manage soil health, irrigation systems, and fertilization programs
  • Identify and control plant pests and diseases using environmentally friendly methods
  • Oversee nursery operations and plant propagation
  • Conduct regular landscape assessments and implement improvements
  • Train and supervise gardening staff in proper gardening techniques
  • Maintain detailed records of plant inventory, growth, and maintenance activities
  • Ensure compliance with local environmental regulations and resort sustainability initiatives
  • Provide expert advice on plant care to guests and staff when requested

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Botany, or a related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in horticulture or a related field
  • Certified Horticulturist credential preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of tropical plant species and ecosystems
  • Proficiency in landscape design, plant cultivation, and care techniques
  • Experience with irrigation systems, soil management, and pest control
  • Strong skills in pruning, propagation, and greenhouse management
  • Familiarity with sustainable gardening practices and environmental conservation
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and specialized horticultural software
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Effective communication and leadership skills
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in tropical outdoor conditions
  • Experience working in tropical or island environments is highly desirable
