We are seeking an individual to lead on our social impact agenda, strengthening our existing programme to embed social value in wienerberger’s operations, products and partnerships, then reporting our progress. This role is ideal for someone who believes businesses can (and should) make an active contribution to realising the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Ideally you will currently be working as, or wanting to progress into, a role that delivers positive social value beyond the organisational boundary. You will have an interest in corporate sustainability. We are advertising for either a Manager or Adviser position. Candidates considering the manager role should be able to evidence most of the essential and desirable aspects of the Person Specification below, whereas we envisage an Adviser to be at an earlier stage in their social sustainability career and will require training to achieve Institute of Sustainability Environmental Professionals (ISEP) Practitioner membership or Social Value Practitioner Level 1. Key tasks and responsibilities Review, refine and lead the implementation of our social impact programme in the UK and Ireland which currently includes product donations, STEM Ambassador programme, colleague volunteering and charity partnerships. Apply best practice methodologies, for example from Social Value UK, to develop a Social Value programme that improves people’s lives, across both internal and external stakeholders. Develop an approach to monetising the outcomes wienerberger generates, using methodologies such as Social Return on Investment (SROI). Work with our customers to understand their social impact goals, define the data that they need to capture, and establish programmes that enable wienerberger to support the delivery of our customers’ goals. Collaborate with wienerberger’s Procurement team and our suppliers to amplify the social impact that wienerberger can achieve through our purchasing decisions. Identify current and emerging needs in the community by analysing population statistics, confirm these needs through dialogue with internal and external stakeholders. Organise and support the delivery of programmes and events that integrate community needs with wienerberger’s sustainability objectives and relevant legislation. Become the lead contact for our corporate partnership with Habitat for Humanity, National House Project and Emmaus UK. Increase our colleagues’ knowledge of the importance of social impact, both within and beyond wienerberger, for example by providing informal training or organising awareness and engagement events. Work with the marketing communications team to promote our positive social impact both internally and externally. Working arrangements This role has the flexibility of being office-based or hybrid, although success in this role requires regular travel to our UK and Ireland factories and head office in Greater Manchester.
