Job Description
Certified Athletic Trainer is responsible for marketing and providing athletic training services. Athletic training services will be provided to schools, athletic programs, community events and individuals. The head athletic trainer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the sports medicine program for a Division II intercollegiate athletic department. This includes administrative leadership of athletic training services in compliance with NCAA division II rules and best practices. Essential Job Func tions • Supervise care for all athletic programs • coordinate physician coverage and referrals: serve as a liaison with team physicians and healthcare providers • Develop and implement emergency action plans for all athletic venues • Direct and manage all aspects of the athletic training program, including policies, procedures and daily operations. • Follow set budget and submit orders • Ensure compliance with NCAA Division II regulations, conference rules • Supervise, mentor assistant athletic trainers and students. • Coordinate staff assignments for practices, competitions and travel. • Assumes leadership role with communication with coaches, college administration and strength and conditioning staff. • Minimum of 3-5 years of collegiate athletic training experience preferred. • Coordinating and monitoring team drug testing—Liason with student health services. • Promotes and markets Billings Clinic Sports Medicine Center services within the service region. • Ascertains current and future needs of existing customers to ensure satisfaction with current services. Works collaboratively with Sports Medicine Center staff to resolve issues or concerns. Provides feedback and recommendations to Manager and physicians. • Provides athletic training services and/or strength and conditioning services to schools, athletic programs, community events and individuals. • Would only be performed if within the scope of practice of an individual’s certification Recognizes and evaluates athletic injuries and determines appropriate emergency care for the injured athlete; determines proper treatment and/or reconditioning programs for injured athletes within established guidelines. • Would only be performed if within the scope of practice of an individual’s certification Maintains a record system for all athletic injuries and treatments. • Assists as necessary in the Orthopedics Sports Medicine Center, including the orthopedics providers’ office and Rehabilitation Department • Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
