POSITION DETAILS:
This position is a full-time non-exempt position - 100% FTE, 37.5 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $25.64. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance, retirement, vacation, sick and personal leave.

Required Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or equivalent education (Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years transferrable relevant evidence-based research experience).
- Experience relevant to the role of the position.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
- Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with local food and family wellness programs.
- Familiarity with county and town areas, and community organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, teach and evaluate informal educational programs through a variety of delivery methods to reach family members of all ages.
- Demonstrated ability to function as a team member working with volunteers and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to organize reference materials for programming purposes.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse audiences.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Responsibilities:
Development - 15%
- Assist in the development of innovative Family Health & Wellness educational programming and strategies.
- Assist in research, identification and selection of existing resources for program use.
- Assist in structuring Family Health & Wellness programs to meet the diverse needs of the community and program participants.
- Assist with developing/maintaining Extension/Cornell University faculty connections for guidance with program development.
- Develop systems for voluntary financial contributions for senior programs in conjunction with Essex County Office for the Aging.
- Assist making program changes as needed based on evaluation outcomes.
- Help with fundraising goals for Community Vitality programs by drafting grant proposals and assisting with other fundraising events and activities.
- Adapt in-person programming to virtual settings.
- Develop and contribute to social media, connecting local food and public health.
- Develop and implement “Food as Medicine” outreach, including networking with a wide range of community partners.
- Utilize program resources and materials to develop educational materials that link public health outcomes with local, healthy food.
- Work in cooperation with Executive Director, Community Vitality Team and other CCE staff to help develop programming for the Community Vitality Program area.
Program Delivery, Evaluation and Applied Research - 55%
- Teach existing educational programs as defined.
- Utilize a wide variety of proven educational methodologies in program delivery efforts.
- Apply existing subject matter knowledge to create lesson plans necessary to deliver high-quality educational programming.
- Serve as subject matter resource in public health connections with local food to staff and participants, community organizations and the general public.
- Work to foster acceptance of Community Vitality programming, methods and policies while addressing community and individual needs and considering diverse audiences.
- Under the direction and oversight of the Executive Director and Program Team Leaders, apply subject matter knowledge to create and deliver lesson plans. Delivery methods include, but are not limited to, one-on-one teaching, group classes, and workshops.
- Deliver senior wellness programs and work closely with other educators to strengthen and expand programs.
- Promote local food through Agriculture in the Classroom, Power of Produce Club, and other outreach activities.
- Deliver educational programs as a part of multi-association efforts when identified/appropriate.
- Inform community members about enrollment in public programs that enable them to access and purchase local food.
- Advise food pantries who want to incorporate local food for recipients.
- Contribute to data resources about food access and local food providers. (see https://ahihealth.org/healthyadk/)
- Communicate with food pantries and food hubs seeking local food to provide public health resources around “Food as Medicine.”
- Communicate with farmers’ market managers and establish ways to facilitate utilization of food benefits at farmers’ markets.
- Support research on nutrient-dense produce and connection to local products.
- Work with the Essex County Master Gardener Volunteer program to promote knowledge of how to grow food.
- Serve as a team member and cooperate with the entire Association to achieve Association program delivery goals.
- Implement program evaluation as designed and interact with program participants to obtain evaluation data.
- Assist in the process of analyzing program data, and based on that analysis, assist in making recommendations for improvements in program offerings.
- Communicate evaluation findings to constituents as appropriate.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Direction and Management - 15%
- Work in cooperation with team members to help establish priorities and objectives for Community Vitality programs.
- Assist with planning the delivery of established Community Vitality Program goals.
- Assist in planning educational programs and program delivery initiatives in assigned programming areas.
- Assist in the planning of Community Vitality fund development activities as appropriate.
- Assist in planning major public events and programs, including the planning of mass media efforts related to upcoming events and programs.
- Assist in entering Community Vitality program data and putting together reports or entering data for grants as needed.
- Provide oversight to program volunteers.
Coordination/Operation - 10%
- Assist in organizing and coordinating program activities related to Community Vitality programming.
- Assist in the coordination of effective marketing strategies in the promotion of Community Vitality programming efforts to include, but not limited to print media, news media, social media, and multi-media efforts.
- Collect evaluation data and program needs assessments from program participants based on existing evaluation framework and guidelines.
- Effectively maintain professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts.
- This position may require the transport of program participants and/or program materials and resources in performing position responsibilities.
- Appreciate and embrace all interactions with clientele, staff, volunteers and the public.
- Assist the Cornell Cooperative Extension system in reaching out to all audiences.
- Be aware of, and adhere to, established Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Essex County policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the overall success of the organization by performing all assigned duties in a professional, timely, and accurate manner.
Professional Improvement and Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
- In cooperation with the Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.
- Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.
Health and Safety - Applied to all duties and functions.
- Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.
- Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
