The Outpatient Pharmacist supports the Neurology Ambulatory Pharmacy located on Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus and plays a key role in a new pharmacy created as part of the Neurological Institute’s expansion. This role manages day-to-day pharmacy operations for a high-volume outpatient setting comparable to Taussig and Crile pharmacies, with anticipated prescription volumes of approximately 150–400 per day. Responsibilities include overseeing staffing, workflow and operational efficiency, ensuring high-quality patient care and service excellence and partnering closely with clinical and operational leaders across Neurology. The pharmacist also supports onboarding, training and performance management of team members and contributes to building and shaping pharmacy operations from the ground up within a growing ambulatory neurology practice.
 

A caregiver in this position will work 8 hour shifts Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:45am and 6:15pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide pharmacy services and ensure the appropriate selection, dosing, administration and dispensing of medication orders.  
  • Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered, evidence-based medication services. 
  • Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations. 
  • Contribute to medication safety initiatives.  
  • Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner. 
  • Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with national accreditation standards. 
  • Maintain professional interactions with patients to facilitate successful patient experiences. 
  • Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers, and/or patients.  
  • Be accountable for drug use policy adherence.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • PharmD or Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy 
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible in current state within 90 days of hire 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations within 90 days of hire for those administering immunizations 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Completion of a Post-Graduate Year 1 Residency (PGY1), fellowship or relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience  
  • Post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience preferred for Clinical Pharmacists hired in a Specialized Pharmacy practice area
  • Board Certification 
  • Prior management experience working in a complex and high-volume Pharmacy
  • Prior experience leading a medium sized team

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time. 
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision.
  • Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
