Job Overview
Skanska is searching for a dynamic Director of Special Projects to lead fast-paced, high touch projects in our Special Projects Group (SPG). This is an opportunity to build a meaningful career with a company that builds things that matter and values its team. We are proud to share our culture of diversity and inclusion.
Our work makes a clear contribution to society and the environment around us. We build in many different verticals. Whether we are building schools to provide inspiring spaces for learning, roads to connect communities or hospitals to care for patients, it all contributes to our purpose – we build for a better society.
Skanska's values —Be Better Together, Act Ethically and Transparently, Commit to Customer and Care for Life—are deeply engrained in how we work, which is why our values support and drive our D&I efforts.
The Director of Special Projects provides overall leadership for multiple projects by dedicated Project Management Teams. They will be instrumental in assembling, developing, and guiding these teams from pursuit to closeout. They will plan and oversee all aspects of the project lifecycle including budgeting, scheduling, organization, implementation and execution ensuring projects are delivered safely, ethically, and in compliance with all federal, state and local laws. They will oversee a smooth transition from the estimate/pre-construction phase to construction in order to protect the bid position.
This role plays a strategic part in business development for the Seattle Market. SPG is positioned as a key driver for cultivating new client relationships and expanding existing ones. A successful candidate will be a self-starter who can independently identify opportunities while coordinating with the Senior Leadership Team on strategic clients and pursuits. They will understand SPG's dual role as both a delivery engine and a relationship building that can open doors to larger, future opportunities.
SPG work is uniquely rewarding and requires exceptional coordination, flexibility, and communication. Projects often involve fast moving schedules, active and occupied environments, high levels of client interaction, repeat relationships with long-term partners, and a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and responsiveness.
If you have a strong background in tenant improvements, excel at client service, thrive on compressed schedules, and enjoy mentoring nimble, high-performing teams, we'd like to meet you.
